I'm sorry mate. I sent it!! I feel really bad. It's time for a new phone I think. It is 5 years old. Dammit!!
No worries. I'm not sure how txts work, but it's possible I was out of the coverage area or something... But still, any excuse to get a new phone!

Well, did you guys go anywhere and do anything last evening?
Buckbuck took charge...we did the Wainui Coast Road and back to the Lifeboat pub at Eastbourne. Good turn out considering the rain checks.
Shame the nights are drawing in though. How was your evening, Hitch? You must be knackered, mate!

Rain checks? Were you out riding in the same city as me? Did the earth move where you were? Why do stars suddenly appear?

Wow.. looks like the weather was 100% better over your way... bugger it!!
Er...just a bit. We took one look at the grey stuff clinging to the hill and decided it was a no-no. And with loose gravel on Piecock, we wisely chose coast road.

Just wanted to say thanks for a good ride-out last night - as a noob it was my first group ride and everybody was really friendly and chatty. The pace was just right too (only got overtaken by one 250!), and I learned alot from following some of the guy's lines  - the guy with his daughter on the back was a pretty good guide as to the severity of the next corner too!
Thanks Rich for the invite, will defintley come along to some other rides too :Punk:

Yeah, thats the trouble I've been having lately. My mate wasn't getting my txt's until hours later or even days. We'd be sitting in a bar having a beer and he'd get a txt from me asking him what he's up to tonight. Bloody annoying!!

Hmmm wow... I have the same problem with my phone.... I send a txt in the morning, and people dont get it until late at night, sometimes early early morning and they get grumpy with me. My phone is quite old, but I am not sure if thats the reason.

Well, when I followed you to Eastbourne, I was quite impressed that you didn't appear to be braking into the corners. (No brake light coming on) I assumed you were engine braking. Perhaps Wasp was a bit too close and felt the best thing was to pass you.

Thanks for compliment  your shiny helmets looked good too!
I tend to use engine braking most of the time, although maybe I should check my brake light too
I've no probs with people overtaking (never been called dangerous before, I'm soooo proud!) coming from a trials background anything over 50kph seems ballistic!

Fact of life with txt'ing I'm afraid - nothing to do with the age of your phone. Told my kids a million times but since its very quick most of the time they don't believe me.. Oh well..
If you want realtime comms - voice is the way!

1st March 2007, 10:29
I didnt mean YOU were dangerous Matt, just the way I was following - trying to pass a bigger bike on a 250 is no easy feat - with you pulling away due to better acceleration out of the corners by the time i caught up it was the next corner, hence i was going faster into the corner and both braking
I would normally have just backed off but had others behind me (that plus passing the cbr250 infront of you is a wicked achievement for a bandit)
still, you're not slow by any means!

I think I can safely call it for you guys. It's 90% OK now, most of the pea metal has gone. Just normal sensible riding is required.
At the Pauatahanui end, the whole road was rough-chip sealed and that is now pretty clean, just be careful of between the wheel tracks. If there's any metal at all that's where it will be.
2 km further nort the surface changes from smooth to chip-seal and there has been some repairs done. These are on the corners and they show up as strips lighter than the rest of the road. They're right on the line through the middle of the corner but any alert5, vigilant, sensible riders will be aware of it before they're upon it. Everything past Battle Hill is fine

I had to pull over directly after the roadworks and then spend half an hour getting the stones out of my drive belt and pulleys before I could carry on when I went out that way last night. Hopefully the belt isn't poked.
All that effort and the road surface is just as shitty as it was before, dips and bumps and corrugations everywhere. What a waste of time.

It was still wet and drizzly at the toppermost of the Haywards and then I got stuck behind a truck with all its associated spray. Nice. Lovely. Fabulous! I was out and about on Saturday and saw some 2 peice leathers for sale in Cashies in Porirua.
Pros,
Cheap asking $350 ish, they were armoured and sliders etc, They looked as if they have not been warn at all, no marks.
Size was large I tried the jacket and you would need to be a few pies smaller than me.:bye:
Cons,
They looked pretty gay. :whocares: they were White with lime and yellow zig zags everywhere:sick: and then had yellow and blue everywhere else.
But I thought some where in Welly might be interested in them.:scooter:

I looks like it's still dry in Wellington at the moment (I think the camera (http://www.wn.co.nz/cameras/cam16.htm) is just fogged up). What worries me is the band of rain heading our way...

Well the afternoon all turned to poos so at 1746 I was still at work. I think Wasp was too.
Gentle rain all the way down SH1 from Kapiti and it's still falling in Whitby. The roads were a bit slick as there's just not enough rain to give them a good rinsing. Am beginning to regret not getting my A into G and putting the bike in for the new front tyre it so badly needs. Especially since Nasty and I are off to Palmy tomorrow night and Napier on Friday

If the weather's good I'm keen, but I think that might be like saying "If I win lotto I'll quit work" - not too much chance of it happening, me thinks.

oh er... depart at 6? not arrive at 6?
i dont beleive you! i tried this last year and the welly crew whined that they weren't fast enough to get there in time....
hsvboy06
11th April 2007, 14:41
Wasp - Sels suggested an earlier start a few weeks ago and nobody whined...
We are going to give it a go for at least a few more weeks I think, but trying an earlier departure - so folks, be at the pond ready to depart at 6pm(ish)
Then again, I'm not sure enough people have turned up since then for there to even be a ride...!

No, the car has a stuffed front disc at the moment, and I can't afford to fix it because ...
I splashed out on a 93 Suzuki GSX750F on Saturday - after getting my full on Tuesday last week
Edit: it looks remarkably similar to the one now in my avatar (from the Clymer manual cover).
