Alternatively, I could meet you as you come out of the Danseys, then we could take the Dunstan Trail to Clarke's Junction, Lee Stream Valley, Mahinerangi, and down to Ruralman's for friday night. Hardly any sealed roads at all.

Done deal then. From Mahinerangi there are at least two routes to Ruralman's place, via Lawrence (longer and some seal), or Via Waitahuna (shorter and no seal). My preference would be via Waitahuna, although I am asking on the Adventure Riding to Rallies thread if RM knows of an alternative forestry route.

Yep we should be along to the Nelson rally. Got 3!! rallys that month: Nelson, the Buell one in St Arnaud and Magpie madness in winchester. Was contemplating the Burt Munroe racing but no buckets in any of the meets, VERY disappointed about that! So I guess it is MM instead as they are the same weekend

bikes with no WOF or not reg'd or dodgy tyres etc will be targeted tho, as some of these cops come from cities and if theres a ticket to be given out they'll give it as a couple are ex MOT, say no more.

Warrant of Fitness (WoF)
A warrant of fitness (WoF) is a ‘road safety’ measure, designed to ensure that vehicles are properly maintained and comply with certain requirements of the New Zealand law. The periodic WoF inspection consists of visual examination and performance tests, but doesn’t involve any dismantling of the vehicle. It’s compulsory for any small vehicle in New Zealand such as a car, station wagon, van or 4WD vehicle. It can also be a moped, motorcycle or similar, including a trike.
If your vehicle was registered less than six years ago, it must have a WoF inspection every 12 months. All other vehicles must have a WoF inspection every six months. We are required to follow the Vehicle Inspection Requirements Manual (VIRM) issued by Land Transport New Zealand.
A WoF inspection includes the following safety checks:
Tyre condition (including tread depth)
Brake operation
Structural condition (Rust is not allowed in certain areas)
Lights (Are all bulbs working?)
Glazing (Is your windscreen safe?)
Windscreen washers and wipers
Doors (Do they open and close safely?)
Safety belts. (Must not be faded or damaged; buckles must work properly)
Airbags (if fitted)
Speedometer (Must be working)
Steering and suspension (Must be safe and secure)
Exhaust (There must be no leaks and the exhaust must not be too loud)
Fuel system (There must be no leaks).
After your vehicle passes its WoF check, it’s your responsibility to keep it in the condition that it was in when it passed the inspection.
Remember! A WoF inspection isn’t a Pre-Purchase Inspection though you can get a thorough Pre-Purchase Inspection from many On Road stations.
The WoF doesn’t cover many areas of a vehicle’s condition such as:
Engine, clutch, gearbox and differential
Lubricant levels and condition
Brake pad thickness or life expectancy
Paint work condition and rust in non-structural areas.

Yay. NightHawk has his bike back so he isn't threatening to take the baby VTR.
New tiny sleeping bags arrived today and they take up such a little space in the pack I might be able to take all the stuff I don't need and won't even take out of the pack.
In case the pants aren't in by Friday, we went to warehouse and bought some overpants and kneepads. Better than nothing.

Right you rejects from Atilla the Huns recruiting programme, listen up, (in best 'ALLO allo accent) "I will say zis one time only"
Chez Scumdog will be identified for those who have not been here before.
It will have a string of ballons in KB colours (black and yellow dummies) strung from the power-pole at the north outer extremity of Chez Scumdog estate.
They will (should?) be visible to the right for those approaching from the north (those NOt approaching from the north will have to figure it out).
There will also be a Harley Davidson flag on the flag-pole at Chez Scumdog, you may salute it as you enter the portals of Chez Scumdog, falure to do so may well result in the portcullis being dropped on your swede.
A small range of refreshments and tucker will be available on arrival.
