I thought you guys may have popped into Africa bar again, I turned up at about 9pm, but alas, nobody home.

You have a usual haunt after the ride? Getting lonely, thats all.

Just remember, wheelies are neither big nor clever.

Err, right. Best take heed of your own mutterings then.

Especially given there were security cameras all around the joint.

When things happen on the shore we go to Bar Africa afterwards. However the consenting majority preferred to see action out West so it was Miss Q's Westgate. Follow the thread and you should have a pretty good chance of working out which place which week.

Oh and how is the hand?

Big Dog

If people want to use the swanson area we used last week someone will need to contact Jorja or Frosty. I have no landline and no credit.

Restricted licence conditions

When you have your restricted motorcycle licence, you must keep to the following conditions:

* You must carry your restricted licence with you at all times when you are riding.
* You must not ride a motorcycle with an engine capacity greater than 250 cc.
* You must not ride between the hours of 10 pm and 5 am.
* You must not carry a pillion passenger.
* You should not drink any alcohol before you drive.
o If you're under 20, your legal alcohol limit is 30 mg/100 ml of blood. This is effectively a zero limit - consuming one drink will mean a rider can be charged with drink driving.
o If you're over 20, the legal alcohol limit is 80 mg/100 ml of blood. Your riding, however, may be affected well before you reach the legal alcohol limit.

------

Nothing about a max. speed limit.

As Tank so bluntly put it, you'll be alright. I rode home from my arm tattoo so I reckon you'll be alright to.

But it was weird how controversial different tattoo parlours are on cleaning.. The place I got it done (Lincoln Rd) told me to keep it in cling film for a few days
and rub some cream on it to stop it scabbing. Then a mate of mine was told to just wash it regularly and give it lots of air..

Strange people have no clue what they're no about!

Gah! Right well it would appear I ain't coming to AWNR tonight then.

The bolt which holds my gear change in place decided to snap in half while I was at the gas station.. Managed to get a stick to lever the bike into third gear to get home (Had to push the bike up one steep bit of hill - Not fun). And now there's a bolt wedged well in the metal plate on my bike.. tried drilling it out but even with a big hole in it now it's well and truely stuck.

So i'm gonna have to bore out the whole thing and get it re-threaded..

So it seems i'm out for a little bit then. May come round tonight on one of my other bikes, maybe get some practice in on the CC challenge scooter if someone's willing to wait at the back with me? This is all dependent on whether I not I can up the enthusiasm for more bad luck..

This week i've lost my mobile, lost my wallet, won a free bottle of a coke but then discovered the promotion's expired.. and busted my bike.

So yeah, if anyone's willing to hang around at 60k's at the back of the pack with me then post up, otherwise I may take my 125 out.

Cheers,

Hey guys/girls, I'm in Waitakere and am looking at going for my 6R license soon... does the Wednesday night ride cater for the likes of me wanting to know what to expect from the test (the roadcode isn't too informative, other than telling me not to coast around corners on my bike with my "foot" on the clutch), or can you please direct me to someone who can assist me? Thanks

Nagash

I couldn't see why it shouldn't be able to help,

Pretty much we just discuss what's to be taught when we meet at Westgate, and I reckon your case would take priority.

Though the 6R test really is just only a ride around the block.. but you may aswell come along. I'm in the Waitakere too btw..

Roll up, roll up. Come one come all.

Never too late to sharpen your skills, there are some very experienced riders who still drop in from time to time to sharpen the skill of the night.

Generally the ride test is around obeying the law.

The best way to find out what to expect on the day is to either ask the test place you have booked with for the route (some will some won't supply a map), or ask in a separate thread for advice from others who have done this test at your location.

I did my test at Westgate (where I assume you would sit it) only a couple of months ago - I can walk you thru the test and the route fairly easily.

Catch me on Wednesday.

There are no instructors at all.

No leadership.

Just good old fashioned personal responsibility by the participants.

Would not go as far as never...

See you lot at Albany, should you rabble of leaderless cohorts choose to congregate there without the endorsement of any official whilst fully aware that you participate at your own risk and accept personal responsibility for it.

I have never claimed to be the leader.

The point of MT's post is that NO activity of this sort is "official" KB activity.
The KB trackdays are officially "Frostys" track days for this very reason.

By the same account I think its against the law to tout onself as a motorcycle ride instructor without getting the official govimint papers.

+1 The AWNMR that I originally designed, was for more experienced riders to help the less experienced/new riders.

It is only against the law to charge money for 'instructing' without the 'I' endorsement.

We started talking and roughly, round about 7pm we just sorta headed up Coatseville-Riverhead and got tired so we pulled into Albany for a KFC but decided to just hang around the car park instead.

After a couple of hours of talking piss we all went to the pub and drank some piss, then talked some more piss.

Oh, right! :pinch:

Yeah Nagash, too bad you missed out on practising wheelies and stoppies! But you ride a cruiser anyway, so... :dodge:

Haha mate, I can wheelie that cruiser.

I took a few pointers from Badger (Who Wheelie'd his GN!) and found an industrial area neardy and just muck around a bit, burn outs and wheelies  It's like.. centiemetres off the ground but none the less haha.

On a side note: You actually thought we practice wheelie's and stoppie's on a learner ride?! That cracked me up man.

Well, i set a new record this morning and 12 o'clocked the GN
and then proceeded to throw it across the carpark on it's side... :weep:
Now my knee hurts for some strange reason... :doctor:

The principle remains the same - by learning how to control your bike at slow speeds, you are able to use the same 'tools' to control your bike at faster speeds and with greater confidence.

There is an emphasis on slow stuff - pedestrian avoidance at 60k for example, braking in the wet, heck even braking full stop! It is certainly scary seeing how many new riders and even experienced riders cannot brake very well - lets just say they can after attending a few sessions.

You obviously do quiet a bit of safety stuff which I am real keen on, but do you go for ride as well?

You would not be the first thou.
Many a thou rider has developed bad habits or just forgotten the ones they had.
This is not about who is the best rider, this is about adding tools to the toolbox you use to keep your bike shiny and you out of hospital.

There is a ride every time, from Westgate to Albany then exercises as dictated by the wants / needs of the attendees.

True, I do. Am happy to discuss the ins and outs of the confluence of conspiracy that lead to the incident adnauseum in person, how ever do not wish to discuss it on line.
Too much room for somone to take the wrong idea or utilise my conclusions in invalid circumstances resulting in a bin of their own. Text is not a good medium of discussion in that way.

Suffice it to say I am glad I was wearing $1500 of gear on my $1000 scooter or I would have a broken elbow too, all at 30 kmph.

I don't know. I rode it to the hospital (cos I'm a biker dammit). Felt ok but looks a little funny.

As noted in last week I will probably not be able to make it on this week. Things are looking promising for next week.
If anyone knows wants to lead the night or knows of someone who would be good to give leadership a go get them to post in here.
I can be home to provide cones but that is about me.

Nominations would also be a good idea.
