Thanks for the great ride, the back roads from Pahiatua to Masterton were awesome.
Hope you didn't get too wet going home, it rained from Pahiatua to Feilding, the fire at home has seldom been more inviting.
Chanceyy, you will have to come and organise our Feilding rides, this waiting at intersections to ensure noone gets lost is alien to us, ours tend to be more of a " blind leading the blind ", which given the state of my glasses, is not far from the truth.
Excellent meeting you all.

I should probably mention the only reason she was on the ZG in the first place was because I left my smokes behind at the wild oats in carterton and made it the featherston before I realised so dumped the pillion and off I went back for the smokes.\
And yes, I did get them.

Great ride and very well organised thank you chancey :2thumbsup
Enjoyed the ride out the back of pahiatua and masterton especialy with cowboyz looking at my tail light for once :bleh:I am realy enjoying riding the concours now that i am starting to get used to the handling, for a large bike it sure seems to be nimble Coming through Otaki i had a red light light up in the dash and a warning came up in the led display telling me the rear tyre was low on air, stopped to check and all seemed ok until we got closer to levin when the gauge told me it was still going down, then i felt it go a little wobly in the rear and realised i had problems Got to Levin to discover a reasonably large chunk of box cutter blade had embedded itself into my tyre, what to do ?
Called the wife told her to hitch the trailor and wait for my call then bonez suggested there was a super cheap autos up the road where maybe we could get a 12 volt compressor to inflate when needed to get me home
Spotted a tyre pando and thought yep thatl do, so we pumped her up with that finished it with the little compressor and checked it at the mobil down the road, Sweet we were off. Got to Shannon just in time for chocky cake and see everyone leaving chanceys. Got home, parked the bike in the shed and the warning light came on again and i can hear a hissss of air coming out the rear tyre, Good timing
Thank god for tyre pandos, and super cheap autos :niceone:
Cheers for hanging around to help bonez, makes a huge difference knowing i wasnt stranded alone
I cant praise Kawaski enough for thier trye pressure warning system, this was the first flat tyre on a bike i have had since i was a young lad and it was very reasuring being able to see how much air i had in my tyres after the temporary repair
My sympathy goes out to the mechanics apprentice that has to clean out all that crap from inside my tyre next week
Awesome day and it was great to meet some more kiwi bikers

An excellent turn out at Ashhurst & decision made to split into two groups the riders who wanted to tackle the saddle & those quite happy to go directly through the gorge .. Riders Brief juz to keep everyone in the loop.. quick text to English as he had not arrived yet .. but off we set.. arrived into woodville garage In time to take a couple of pics of the saddle riders arriving .. & low & behold English arrived :D
Next leg of the trip to Pahiatua & I was designated tail end charlie .. had a bit of speed over the railway lines so stood up .. hmmm seat felt a bit weird .. look down ohh :shit: Betsy is doing her best to strip again  this time she is trying to lose the seat :nono: .. so quick stop on the side of the road to set that right & off we set .. thanks to Robertydog who realised I had stopped & waited for me
Gas up & then it was on to my favourite bit of road sighs .. I was really really really looking forward to this bit of road had only ridden it once before not long after i first started riding so was keen to see how much more smoother I was on it ..think the smile said it all today .. a few cattle to dodge & one sheep still a bit of loose chip seal but ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that is one sweet bit of road all right..
I was fortunate enough to have Yod's GPS unit on Betsy again today .. (thanks so much Jonno I really appreciated it ) hmm & we will not mention Betsy's top speed today :nono: needless to say I was laffing BIG TIME....
off to carterton & Wild Oats Cafe .. well wot can one say about a bike freindly cafe they put us upstairs & provided visor cleaners, morsels of sweets at the end of lunch & a lollipop on the bike .. I would certainly recommend any biker stopping here awesome treatment .. the plus we were all still dry at this point .. no rain :wari:
then it was off to Featherston, stop for gas .. & Cowboyz not happy that he couldn't lead anyone astray (get them lost) left his smokes at the cafe so shot back to locate them .. Yod needed to do some quick repairs to the RF .. gear change leaver I believe .. & still no cowboyz .. so leaving meanie with mrs cowboyz the rest of us decided to proceed to the summit of the taka hill .. this was my first trip over (along with one or two others) & I may have finally found ryhthm had a really nice flow going around the corners so much so that was grining ear to ear when we got the the summit
more piccy time & as it was getting cold meanie said to proceed they will catch up as cowboyz still not back yet ..
off we went & had a bit of fun with phantom I passed him, he then shot back passed me but I nailed him on a nice sweepy corner .. :Punk: that was totally fun .. we started hitting a bit of drizzle & headed towards the Haywards .. rustys & duc girl headed into the hut .. unfortunately english followed them but spied us at the last min .. so we waited til he got turned around & came back .. then over the paikakariki hill & a quick stop at the summit, could feel the rain coming & headed to pram for final gas up .. said bye bye to sels1 & rode in quite heavy rain to shannon ..
not realising we had dropped off bonez & meanie bout Otaki & seen them sail past us at the turn off to shannon just prior to levin so decided to head to shannon .. meanie knew where the choccy cake was at .
had a good pace in the driving rain, just outta levin all of a sudden Betsy lost power :gob: surging & nuffing there .. though fark me she has petrol ..all of sudden she gained power again but was really shady to shannon .. anyhow we made it home & time for me to feed the tribe, the fire was still going so some quick glove drying time & devouring of the choccy cake was underway ..
Bonez & meanie turned up .. concours had a punture (fark me the bike tells him its losing tire pressure) but all sorted
so now I am still amped about the day ..
wot more could you want (apart from no rain) .. but great company, great ride & great roads .. thanks guys I totally had a blast with you all & we will do it again for sure ..
will post pics later taking far to long to upload at present .. grrrrrrr

Hi Folks, Just like to thank Chancyy for a well organised ride today and also for booking the good weather for us all. It was great to meet other KB members and to finally have the chance to put faces to their KB names. Thoroughly enjoyed those back country roads down to Masterton and the lunch stop at Carterton Wild Oats Cafe was most enjoyable. We departed at the Haywards turn off and went to friends for coffee in Lower Hutt for which we stayed there till 5pm and ended riding home to Waikanae in torrential rain and walked thru the front door at 6 soaking wet but with a great attitude after having a very enjoyable day.
(1) suggestion for organising rides regarding fuel stops,( everyone fuel up at the same time at designated fueling points.) By doing this it will make the ride flow a bit more smoothly. I congratulate u on having riders at each intersection directing bikes to go the correct way which saved time and anyone taking the wrong turn. Overall Great day had and I look forward to further events as long as I can get a pillion seat with someone who is willing to take a pillion. I am quiet happy to share fuel cost.
Hopefully next time I get to taste Chancyy's famous Chocolate cake.
(Sue). Duke girl.

Cheers for hanging around to help bonez, makes a huge difference knowing i wasnt stranded alone :yes:No problem. Place that compressor under the pillion seat and you could get a few extra quid as a botty massager;).
Great ride (about 20+ bikes at Woodville the biggest Manawatu KB run yet I think). Great company. Great chocky cake.
Being the least powered bike on the run Gerble managed quite well I thought. Was even given the chance of leading for bit. I'm glad the cows and sheep decided to behave. There's still a fare bit of pee gravel between Alfredton and Masterton, where Alister set a cracking pace. Lunch at the Wild Oats was entertaining. Mouse secret is out. Literally had our heads in the clouds at the Takas summit, with EN-6s being bike de reg're. Certainly enjoyed the squirt over the Haywards.
Oh yes and I got wet too. Faaarken worth it though.
Looking fwd to the next sojourn.

Ok now that I'm warm and DRY!
I had a blast thanks for the ride team, nice to see the different skill levels of everyone and yet felt comfortable to do what I wanted.... when I wanted.
This run is a real nice one for all types of different bikes and CC's, some nice long open pieces of road to blow the cob webs out :nono: and real nice flowing turning roads. People waiting for us at intersections so we know where to go makes this a real easy and relaxed run as you can afford to enjoy the day and not worry about getting left behind and push yourself to hard thereby increasing you chance of making a mistake which on a bike can be :doctor:
Loved the cows and sheep didn't love the little cat I almost split in half (I'm a cat person ) Really loved playin with that black SS V8  down the hutt road only for a few seconds er...
Catch everyone later, nice to meet you all... not that I will remember everyone’s name/s.
And the CAKE was worth the ride in the rain!! thanks Chancyy I don't think I've ever seen a cake that big before :gob:
This was my first KB ride and it wont be my last.... if your uncertain about coming on one of these I highly recommend 5 Stairs

Damn dial up, still waiting for pics to load - must get broadband!
Another great ride, really enjoyed it, even tho it was wet, cowshitty, and gravelly all at the same time it seemed round behind Alfredton.
The day started off really well, what with running slightly late due to having to find all my thermals that I had hanging up in various places round the house. They were dry at least
Thanks Meanie, Yod and Mrs Yod for waiting while I scoffed a pie and OJ at the BP :sunny:
Great to catch up with some familiar and new faces at Shannon servo, then into Ashhurst for the rendevous.
A quick trip over the Saddle, again wet, and gravelly but fun. Then down to Paihatuha and onto that magic piece of road to Alfredton. Bonez in the lead, doing what Bonez does extremely well
I got to go in front to Masterton, great fun even taking into account that damn gravel!
Wild Oats just has to be one of the best cafes around. Plenty of parking, plenty of space, great menu, and who can beat those lollipops?
Through to Featherston for gas, then the classic sight of Cowboyz executing a reversal manouevre - good man :first:
Discovered my rear tyre has maybe a few 100 kms left in it at the most. After only 5 K. Hmmm, may need a harder tyre next change.
Onto the Taka's. Legendary piece of road and Sels made short work of it. What a great stretch and never disappoints.
Down the other side and the Tiger got a real spanking  I don't think the guy in the BMW SUV appreciated being overtaken tho Sels as he just had to make sure that no-one else could get past until the bottom.
Onto the Haywards and Piecoc hill, and again the Tiger was really growling  I could see your tyre tracks in the wet and the Tiger lived up to it's name - nice
Apologies at this point to the two guys I passed on the way down the hill. It looked good and I only noticed the groove in the road and the rocks as I passed over them, and of course, as I slowed there just had to be a car coming didn't there! :o
Paraparaumu, nice stop, and then the rain hit.
Good but wet run back to Shannon where the amazing CAKE was revealed  Thanks Chanceyy, you're the best!

Well im home and have clocked up 722kms. It really was a great ride. Always interesting when you get on those back roads, cows and all. I reckon we couldnt expect the weather to be to much better for this time of the year. Good to catch up with a few that i have met before and a few that i havent. It was good to put names to faces. Especially to those that i have followed on this site when they have been in market to buy, and have keeped track of their journey.
There are some great photos of the trip and i reckon that other KBers will be very envious of the way this was organised and run. Well done Chanceyy.

Hope it all comes right for ya.
On an up note, Mrs Cowboyz and I are home again now. Had a criusy ride home striaght up the highway. Was going to call in when coming past shannon but it started to spit just before and Meanie had our kids so thought we better get back. Traffic was physco. Wasnt in the mood for lane splitting so we gently made our way out of wellington. Road cleared after Levin so that wasnt too bad.
Another good weekend out the way. All fun and great having Mrs Cowboyz along for the ride.

easiest way to resize is load into MS paint and hit CTRL W and rezise to 50% hor and 50% vert and then save as a JPEG image.
(or get powertoys and you get a nice little pic resizer on your right click menu)
Or if you have piacasa that will let you resize to email size which is quite good. Aim for about 50-80k if you are uploading via dialup.
Failing all that, I would love to see the pics so might have to visit with a usb memory stick.
cheers

Yep cowboyz helped me load her on the trailer last night and i took her into AFC this morning, told brendon he sold me a dud cause all the air went to the top ot the rear tyre :gob: They have done the 1000 km service and just waiting for the tyre to return They sent it away to be vulcanised
Turns out you can buy a repair kit for tubeless tyres Rubber plugs that you can put in yourself on the side of the road Just need a pump Might be good to have in your tool kit, would stop the ride from coming to such an abrupt end
Pick it up tomorrow :woohoo:

Teehee...couldnt resist...was waiting for that one to appear...
She thought she'd get away with it didn't she? heh heh
Glad you're sorted Meanie!
have you tried tane ,alfredton rout ,i;ll try finish work early and you

at this stage, (and, admittedly, it's a bit early to tell) the weather is looking better out east (as usual) but, if you gotta go there, ya gotta go there....i need to shoot up to Norsewood to get wooly stuff for my dad's birthday (he's retired and spends most of his time in the bush) - but i can do that early or on sunday
been trying to get Phil to come out again but his TRX has been off the road having a few minor things seen to and the parts take a while from Oz, yadda yadda yadda....
