Seems a bit silly to want to formalise it I think. (Not that that counts for anything at all).

Wouldn't you be better off, to simply take the bike to a meeting and ask if you can run it?

Well yea na yea... I figure i'd at least start a talking point about what pub talk has proposed as a rule change. Could be the next big (yet smaller) thing. Allow 85cc dirt bike engines, stock standard bore and stroke. Only factory available oversizing allowed. Ie stock engines to keep the big spenders at bay, yet moving the sport forward into the future with a sustainable engine supply... Full top end re-build kit cost me $96 Landed overnight from Auckland. and for $50 more could have gone forged piston. Engine is stolen, so kinda a cheap build so far!

Could be a lot of time and effort wasted if he gets told to not bother getting it off the trailer.

I'd find somewhere to run it :bleh:

As the overlord of the international series of bucket racing, I hereby decree that RM85 engines are allowed in bucket racing. To the same extent I will also be accepting open 250cc 4 Strokes and open 600cc in all sidecars.

Please refer all questions regarding my right to the role of Overlord of Buckets to my PA: http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/member.php/2279-Henk

Greatly appreciated Your highness :not:

You need a NI club to adopt the CAMS 150 2T/250 4T open slather development class - and run somewhere like short track Taupo,

If someone up there will do it at a meeting as an experiment, you'll find out how speeds match up.

Can't say i agree with Grumpth on the open development. I still believe the bikes need to be designed for kart track use. I'm just looking for the next generation of engines. They dont make FXRs anymore and your looking at $1k just ton get your hands on a stock engine. I guess a lot of people wont like it after spending thousands developing their FXR engines.

What do you disagree with in the 150 / 250 cams class? Did you even bother to look it up?
If motors are too expensive maybe you should just go racing 85cc mx bikes on mx tracks
Only North Island buckets run on Kart tracks

what about adding a new class called" super buckets " anything that runs rs or mx type frames ,wheels, engines etc . l know these type of things are already running like that anyway ! but not realy" bucket like " always was a road going bike or if you can build it your self . bet in the day if they new all these rs frames(which were hardly around )were going to be used 'the rules would of ruled them out.

Some of us take ages to accept that nearly everyone in the class is happy with it, and want to make it suit us you know?

I'm just gonna finish my bike and let someone else ride it.

What about not fucking with a class that already works fine as it is?

Simple answer, that's not the MNZ way....we've both been round long enough to remember very successful classes which have been stuffed by rule changes.

If you're not proactive discussing change you will have it forced upon you regardless. The arguments already used here about costs are very similar to those used to change other classes and if someone in a position of power gets the idea he can "encourage" bucket racing with changes, i wouldn't bet against it happening.

Capacity limits for 4 strokes were raised, because of cost and availability weren't they?

Seems to have been well received by most. Maybe not by the less radical two stroke tuners though I guess.

I'll have some 5th hand freebies soon if you don't get anything better.

Not the best but still OK, I've been racing on them for a while and would continue to do so if I didn't find some better ones for a really sharp price.

Ideal. Chur bro!

I think when it comes time, superbike front tyres will be sweet For good grip on the rear. But it requires trips to Manfield and I have no plans.

You could give them to me.
And store them for 6 years until I realise I'm never going to use them, then I can sell them back to you.

Seriously though, Nah, as much as I think they are a potentially useful bucket engine I know I'll never use them.

My sons bucket will need a new left front brake caliper real soon. Currently it has possibly a VJ22 caliper. Something similar from Nissin would be ideal. Anything will be considered as long as it's on the light side, 2 piston, sliding pin type.

RGV calipers are opposed piston type. I gather you're not after another one of those then?

RGV will be Tokico. I have a spare Nissin CBR400 twin slider, to you it's free if you can use it. I'll go drag it out when the cat decides to get up and check mount centres. Pretty sure it's left as I used the matching pair.

The caliper on it has 2 pistons on the outside. The disc on it is offset inwards to fit in the forks so it's pretty tight for room. Dave I'd be interested in that caliper but I'll do a measure and confirm tomorrow. Thanks.

F5 Dave
1st August 2013, 06:57
Well it's not RGV you have. Check the link I posted, there are quite a few posted pics in that link +a schematic and brake pad pic. I used the other side as they fit RS forks and are very similar to RS original. Had it reattached to a brake line so should be ok inside, I bought as a set cw mc.

Sweet, if it isn't a UK restricted jobbie then it will be an okish basis or at least as good as the RG50.

If you decide you want to get it to sing then rebuild the crank & decide how fast you want it to spin say 13,000 if you don't mind throwing rings at it once or twice a year.

It was restricted but it was an electronic one worked off the gear change, I have chucked a bung in the hole and cobbled the mechanism to think it is in 3rd gear. If you look very closely you can see it hanging just in front of the gear change.
It was going to be for my daughter but wifey is making FU noises so I may start a page for honda 50 tuning help and developement.

Drew

The drag will cost powerI've wondered about how much it might be, that is lost due to drag. It doesn't bother MotoX bike manufacturers. My musings are caused because we have a a sprung tensioner on the side car.

Bit different when you're talking about a little bit of drag slowing down your 160 odd horse power ZX12 though I guess.

Here ya go:

http://www.rmi.org/RFGraph-Horsepower_overcome_aerodynamic_drag

That's for a car, but the drag on bikes is generally actually higher.
And MX riders have more to worry about than the little bit of drag at their speeds.

I need someone to work out some smaller parts (prototype) in metal/aluminum. It should be able to be made out of a thick sheet of aluminum, maybe 8mm. Provides drawing and a cardboard model.

You mean one off hand made, or CNC CAD drawn stuff? I suspect from the cardboard model its the former. Try RMS, call Chris 09 8179500 he's in Titers

Std FXR should be plenty, something isn't right.
Check the outer dust seals, they are prone to cracking and folding over, thus jamming the piston.
Also whatever Su-poo-ski used for 'plating' on the pistons is sub standard, make sure corrosion isn't a problem there.

Love my 'plastic' Honda brake pistons, light and un-corrodable!

Considering RGV power valves are $1000 for a set, and good used ones are very rare. I would chuck the Suzuki barrel in favour of a honda unit. Also if you used an older style barrel MC18. They have nice hex shape that might help with attaching heat sync. If you plan on keeping the water jacket that is.

I'm after some RS125 sprockets. I ordered in a 45 and a 42 from the states for the 100. I'd miscounted & really needed a 48 & a 45.

1. Any idea of a 48 without a crazy freight cost? (I'd bought a few things, but 1x spkt is a bit silly).

2. Anyone need a cheap flashy 42? I paid $40US for Intuitive brand. Light as heck, anodised & Rich says they last well. Make a cheeky offer.

Yes it will not just bolt on. but you mentioned keying it.......
They go from about 35-48t to cater for the different models and wheel sizes.
Don't just look at the SX go back to 2002 the wheels interchange even though the engines are very different from 2009 on

Do you still need the RS sprocket. I think there are some in the box of bits that came with the frame . Ali or Steel?

Ally would be fab as I can cut it. More worn teeth the Better, as long as the centre is not fretted like mine is.

I like where this is going!

Anyone got a live plated GL? Condition is not relevant.

Just thought I'd ask on here before going off shore, do any of you have a 50cc cylinder for the nsr50 cluttering up your sheds? My spare is being retired due to being to big to find nice pistons for.
Not worried if they are a bit manky as long as less than 39.5.
Thanks

There was a thread where a guy in Thailand was offering to source engines.
http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/150443-2-stroke-engines-from-Thailand.
you were one of the first to post.lol

occasionally on TM a guy pops up trying to sell a couple of 150's with a spare engine.......
it has a chrome tank someone will know where it went or is..

The 150 has better gearbox ratios.................
the heads are different stud pattern from the 250 ones the cylinders bolt on but the water passages are a different set up...........

I have some MC21 barrels sitting around so thought I might have a play. I figure air cooled or sleeved not sure but would be fun to have a little play in the 2 stroke bucket realm.

I has 5 fibre plates, first time I killed 3, replaced the clutch.

Second time I killed 3, with the surviving plates I have 4, hence needing another.

Anyone want to buy an AX100?

I recommend lower gearing for steep off-road hill climbs.

I could leave it at Koba's if he agrees, of course he may either lie to you about his address and keep it himself or, give you his one that spent 75 years on a seafront rooftop and keep yours. Or give you a collection of empty beer cans and tell you that the frame got recycled while he wasn't looking.
