cheers man

from the ride I went around gebbies the other day I'm pretty happy with where it is, the rear didn't bounce in the corners, front may have wallowed a wee bit but that may be the undulation of the road.

I'll set it to "where it should be" or as close as possible, then go from there

9th September 2009, 16:47
I'm keen for someone with a bit more experience to try the clutch and gearbox on my bike. Clutch has been pretty hard to work, and its been misbehaving a bit otherwise lately

KiwiPhoenix
9th September 2009, 21:53
Well it seems there was a few wee tweaks!! Eh Rik, I thought that for a second when that dog got tangled up around your legs and poor Jmemonic ended up nearly tweaking your front end!

Glad we have a chaperone for Sunday!

So I left work a bit earlier than planned and thought I'd check out at least one of these meets before they finished.
Seemed like a decent turn out, good variety of bikes and people, some I recognised, a lot I didn't.
Have to laugh at myself, not so good with social... I turn up late, spot the first person I already know (TimG) and spent the next 20 minutes talking almost exclusively to him, then everyone packs up and goes to the pub.
Not so keen on pubs so I went and did other stuff.
Not such a good way to put faces to names on my part.

JMemonic
16th September 2009, 22:57
Well I am wondering if I was lucky or unlucky, as I pulled up the drive the oil light came on, hmm no oil pressure check the level as I hadn't for a week or two, sight glass is hard to see through, odd I will put bit in to see if its low 2 litres later, no change in the glass.

Figured I would take the bung out, well I don't know what has contaminated the oil or if it has just given up the ghost, but it was only warm and ran out like water. Just glad it did not happen on the way out of town, but I am wondering now how much it costs to get it tested to see if it just died or something has gotten to it, cant see how anything got in there though.

Dave-
16th September 2009, 23:34
Bro, do you reckon the Fuel sensors playin' up?

yeah, the bikes diagnostic has detected a fault in the low fuel light circuit.

I've had a poke under the tank but cant see anything, had a poke behind the dash but that's all secure and sweet

and the yamaha dealer just closed down here too, suppose to be another one opening but they weren't too sure about where or when.

Hi
I am fairly new here, my mate Pete said you guys were really great and helped him with his xj400, I have an ns250r and need to tune the carbs on it, but i have no idea how to tune 2 strokes. Could I come along and maybe have some one show me how?

Just a bit sore. Thought I had broken my thumb but is seems to have setteled down OK. Just feel now like I have fallen over and landed flat on my back.

The damage on the bike is $1200 which was pretty minimal given the size of my bike.

Thanks for asking.

Come along mate, not sure on your chances of getting much done as it's last night and there is an even bigger chance of fuck all bike work being done and more yapping, eating and drinking.

You'll be welcomed either way and the crew there are really helpful, lots of knowledge, just don't ask me or I'll just make up shit!!

Episode number 69:

Funny story:

So the beast has been having some fuel issues lately, running like crap. Wayne, Ian & myself came to the conclusion that it was just bad fuel. So it's had another tank of gas and it's been a couple of weeks since then. The bike doesn't seem to be running rough anymore, but it doesn't seem to have the power it had. I'd be ripping the throttle on and there's nothing there (rather annoying when one wants to get ahead of that bastard car that pulled out in front of them). I figures there might be a blockage in the fuel lines so make a mental schedule of a "pull the bike apart and clean out the entire fueling system session" on Sunday.

So after a frustrating ride home and kicking the bike a couple of times I play with the throttle in frustration (not sexual, I swear). "Hang on, this doesn't feel right". When I twist the throttle I'm only twisting the grip. The actual throttle isn't turning. "D'oh" I says to myself. "I've lubed my grip!!" (I regularly spray a bit of CRC at each end of the grip cause the rubber rubs on the bar end and the throttle assembly. It keeps the throttle snapping shut. Obviously some CRC made it's way between the grip and the plastic throttle).

Moral of the story: Not everything likes to be lubed boys and girls. Apply sparingly.

haha

it's taken me at least a year to get over "lubing my clutch cable", i say it now like it's normal and other people look at me funny.

phoenixgtr
23rd September 2009, 08:37
Well whaddaya know, the beast was back to normal this morning. Barking at unsuspecting cage goers on the commute. The grip still seems a little loose, but it feels like it's actually loose, not just slipping, so I might have to wrap the throttle in tape or something to tighten it up. I'm pretty sure they're the original grips from 10 years ago...

While i never made it to one of these evenings due to family commitments I thought it was a great idea. If anyone intends to increase the level of work they do on their own bike(s) as a result of these evenings and is thinking about getting a hoist of some kind please call me on 0210694760 as I have a homemade one in my garage which breaks down to 3 pieces for ease of storage. I used to put my BMW R1100G/S on it so its strong enough for most bikes. I haven't used it in a couple of years and am unlikely to in the near future. I'm happy to deliver it within the general ChCh CBD including Rangiora.
I'd be looking for about $70.
