Bike servicing, rebuilding, restoring, manuals, etc..
I'm locked, I'm loaded and i wish I had had a decent nights sleep. Heading off to Wanganui to play pit bitch for the day then off to Taupo for my break from it all. Yea-ha. Test rode the bucket last night and seems all good. I guess we'll find out tomorrow. in theory each race should last 10-12 minutes so there should be too much trouble. The new clip handlebars made a huge difference in handling, hopefully no more painful wrists. See you on the other side
Yesterday was a complete bust when it came to my bucket. I couldn't ask for a better day for working on Zensen. Suns out, next to no wind, warm and I even manage to get some sleep last night. So far have got the head torqued back down. Shouldn't take more than a couple of hours to finish her up, couple hours to pack, finishing up with Pizza and coke. THen up at 4am to drive to Wanganui. Help Geoff for gthe day then head to Taupo.
The clip on handlebars arrived finally. I still need to drill the holes for the controls. I have been surprised that the clip ons aren't going to hit the fairing, much to might delight. I got them from faddybike. While being at the more expensive end of the Thai parts suppliers, the quality so far has been very high. Oh well back to garage...
I'm still having issues with over heating. I have also installed a PC Autotune so I can see what the AFR is doing and found the bike was running down to 10.3-1, which was way to rich for the bike. By leaning this off should help with over heating issues. I'm also going to replace the coolant with a better mix and try running a synthetic oil.
Today's the big day. First time out on the track since doing the mods. Very exiting and nervous.
The race exhaust turned up today. I was like a kid on christmas day opening it. It's so small and light in comparison to what I'm used to fitting. All I could keep saying to my wife was, "It's so cute." As soon as I had demolished my dinner I was in the garage fitting it to the bike. And WOW the noise was unreal. it's very well made, snaking up through the swing arm next to the rear shock and then up to the exhaust hanging mounting point on the frame. Where the muffler/expansion chamber ...
It is finally happening to come together. I had a play with the fuel mapping today setting it up as recommended from a friendly member at another website. i also had a play with the gear changer again. one of the connecting bolts was too long, allowing for too much movement. When changing gears so when changing down to first gear (which involves a fraction more movement than when changing down to other gears) there had been too much movement, stopping the gear change. I need to get ...
It worked. Now needs a really good tuning and all will be SWEET. Have a look at this for proof; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYAX_5wKV14
