  2. Fitting Oxford HotGrips

With another winter approaching and my woman complaining of my freezing cold hands after each ride (which I was sure to rush in when finished riding, rip my gloves off, and promptly place on her nice warm stomach) I decided it was time to look at the options available.

I have very limited mechanical abilities myself (to help you place your skills alongside mine if you’re going to do this yourself). But I have a lot of patience and perseverance and I try not to let the fear ...
  3. Fully serviced, time to ride!

I often ask mechanics and other 'knowledgable' folk what REALLY happens if you dont service the Ducati at the intervals they reccomend.

So the ST4 was just shy her next valve service, but was running pretty horrid, just felt gutless, sounded rattly (more so than usual) and seemed to be using oil faster than I would have expected for a healthy motor.
Biting the bullet (and extending the overdraft) I booked her in for the BIG one, and lo and behold got informed my valves were ...

  5. The tyre trip

Posted in the forums, putting here as an easy to find record.

Tyres fitted @ 14k (4.5k after buying bike) Metzler ME 880 WWW

Ok so the sun was out today but it was a little chilly. Wrapped on a couple of merino layers, waited for the Moll to put her war paint and layers on and off we scooted. A nice slow pootle down SH1 over tar hill and onto SH30. Not much traffic, but taking it easy, because for some reason I now had it in my head that the tyres were to a point of ...
  6. Norton Oil Problem

My brother has a lovely Norton Commando, 72 I think. Anyway the bike had a recent oil change however between draining the old oil and refilling, several days had gone by. Now the oil return line sputters a little oil and a lot of air when the engine ticks over. Also, the filter was replaced, he is rechecking the unit to ensure it is the correct one. We suspect there is an airlock in the oil system somewhere. Any suggestions on how to get the old girl to pump oil again?

    Thanks.

  8. Wellington Motorcycle - Poor Service - Update 09/02/10

I have just talked to a mate and he had exactly the same service last month at Wellington Motorcycles . They used exactly the same parts, fuilds etc on his Bandit 1250 (and a full fairing) and he was only charged $330.

    Now I am really gutted

I will be getting a copy of his Tax Invoice and presenting this to the owner.
