Boring stuff about your boring life.

  1. 2012 C1KC – Part 1: A Brief History

This year's C1KC (or Capital 1000Km Cruise) actually started for me about 2 to 3 years ago when playing with Google Maps &/or MapSource to come up with some options for a nice wee pootle. With the Awakino Gorge probably rating in my top 5 rides in the country, I thought, “that would be nice!” and set about seeing how it could be done within the prescribed Km's …without being predominantly a horrid boring grind up and back on SH1 & SH3. Well that can't be avoided really, but we did OK. Anyway, the ...

  2. A Plan is Good!

With crap forecasts predicting crap weather, I haven't done much riding lately and didn't expect to do any this weekend either. This hasn't been very desireable because after the long lay-off and witht the Capital 1,000Km Cruise on next Saturday, a few rides to harden up the butt would have been quite good, so with a hint of blue sky this morning I thought, 'Bugger the gym, I better go for a ride!'

I figured anything up to a tank of gas (500-600Km) would be good...but where to go? ...

  3. A Farkling Good Weekend

Get Farkled!!...It has a sort of ring to it that might shock or perturb some non-bikers, but I'm pretty sure most most bikers would know what one was on about....although even then, I've yet to hear a the exact definition and origin of the word. Some would say it stands for Functional-Sparkle, while others insist it stands for Functional-Accessory-Really-Kool-&-Likely-Expensive?

Having just bought my new bike, it came with three farkles, namely:
a Rider Seat (Sculpted modified ...

  4. Back in Black

I had my first ride in 5 months this week.....talk about aprehensive Trev!!

On 5th May I had a rather nasty accident that wrote-off the old bike thanks to a brief encounter with some black ice. I was extremely lucky to come out pretty much unscathed...at least on the face of it with no blood and no breaks, but it did arouse an old bike injury whereby a ruptured disc caused a bit of sciatica in my right leg. That in itself was pretty minor, but combined with a good dose of post-accident ...
  5. Lions Tin Can Rally

I would like to invite any and all Kiwi Bikers to participate in this rally to raise food and funds for the Tauranga Food Bank.
It will become a new Christmas tradition!
    Cheers,
    Paul

  6. Johnny Goes to 'Vegas.....& Ends Up At Smash Palace

This week I was scheduled to attend the Allied Insurance Group Conference in Rotovegas. Naturally enough that offered an opportunity for a decent ride, so who am I to waste an opportunity...especially when the only problem to sort is “Which way?”

I've been pretty busy so little attention was given to the subject until the day or two before, except for the fact that the OEM Bridgestone 020's needed replacing (after only 12,000Km I might add) so after discussing and researching the ...
  7. My Suzuki 2005 Boulevard S50 - VS800

by , 29th April 2012 at 21:49 (Motorcycling and An Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD))
The S50 is a very good ride for me, and makes me appreciate the recent years and bikes I have owned. I must say that there may be some irony but at the end of the day coming back to a preferred bike of choice, albeit six years later, well it feels really good.

I remarked today to my brother-in-law, who actually got me into riding, that this Boulevard is in its own way 'non-threatening' - I shift up around, 40-50kph, then 60-70, then 80-90, and around 100kph. With the rumble of the ...

  8. Johhny & G Escape From Wellington

This week Gremlin had some work to do in Welly so he and GIJoe ventured south and took the opportunity to visit, GIJoe for one night and the G-Man for two...it was great to catch-up, although the long night and all the yakking on Thursday night meant for a rather long day at work on Friday!

GIJoe was under orders to return Friday but Gremlin had work, then some uncharted roads to visit, on the way to and around Taupo, so amongst all the crap talked on Friday night, he did manage ...
