Boring stuff about your boring life.
The following link came to mind: Link: 2006 - BucKBuckNo1 Thinking - Suzuki Boulevard S50 That was way back in December 2006, only a couple of weeks after my mentor Uncle B was killed on the road to Castlepoint. Bruce and I had talked about the type of bike I would move up to after my GN250 and the Boulevard S50 - VS800 was very much in the frame. I actually went on to buy a VLX600 Honda cruiser and unfortunately that played havoc with my back and neck, the feet were ...
I guess an air show doesn't really have much connection to a blog more about riding motorcycles than anything else....but I did have to ride to get there!!.....and what a good idea that was!! Having served 20 years in the Air Force, when I heard about the Air Show I thought, 'Hmmm, it's been awhile...I've been out 19 years and haven't been to an air show in that time. I guess the last one I went to was when the Air Force celebrated its 50th, I was at Wigram and had to go as a worker. ...
Every now and then, even Long John enjoys a short social ride (that's apart from Slow Handling Rides) and on this occasion I had to endure a very sedate pootle around the Wellington Bays. Since the last ride was just last weekend and this week has seen some rather cool and inclement weather, the usual pre-ride protocols weren't all followed in that yesterday, I glanced at the bike since it was in the way and I had to get around it on the way to the freezer in the garage, but it didn't ...
Today was a Dawn ride to watch the sun come up at Castlepoint. That event was scheduled for 0715, which meant an 0500 start from Brown Owl, which in turn meant an 0330 alarm!! Yuk! Oh well, alarm went, I slid out of bed and into the shower, dried off, kitted up and hit the road by 0407 having already checked the tyres etc last night. It was “A Starry Starry Night” and therefore we were pretty much guaranteed a sunrise viewing, the temp was a pleasant 15°, there was little traffic ...
I am happy, I'm feeling glad I got sunshine, in a bag I'm useless, but not for long The future is coming on is coming on…….. Maybe!! After the MDA ride in early December my riding summer virtually came to a halt with just a couple of 2-up squirts up to Patea and back around Christmas. At that point I had a new bike in the garage, as well as the old bike which I‘d just managed to list on Trade-Me, I had two flats which needed their interiors ...
I received the following email today and my reply is detailed below. You have all showed an interest in or participated in the Wellington region motorcycle training as provided by local councils and Road safe. We would very much appreciate your feedback on the course so that we can better meet the safety needs of our residents. This course reinforced my earlier advanced rider training participation completed twice in 3years. All such courses assist ...
I've been a bit busy/pre-occupied with interior decorating to get around to posting this but......Another one down and I managed to do about 25,000Km this year. Highlights of the year were: • Jan - Taking our Grand-daughter and her cousin for a holiday on the Gold Coast. • Feb - Doing Gold on the TT2000 which involved 700Km getting there on Friday, 1550Km Saturday, 1350Km Sunday and 300Km to get home Monday for a total of 3,977Km over the 4 days. Fantastic South ...
Today was the Wgtn Uly end of year / Christmas BBQ. It is normally just a BBQ near Rivendell at Kaitoke, but this year we incorporated a local ride and some Slow Handling, so we changed the venue to Karori West School. I had a quick look at the site yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see we had enough space on the tennis courts to set-up three courses, instead of just the one I had been planning, so I rang Ken this morning to advise that I would miss the ride and go direct ...
