Boring stuff about your boring life.
Today hailed the introduction of Police Rodeo riding to the Wgtn Ulysses. We’d organised the day for a short ride around Whitemans Valley and Moonshine Road for the members while I set up the courses at the Riverbank Carpark and although I intended to get there at 0900, I was a bit early after putting some fuel in, and arrived at 0830. Ron & Sue turned up a minute or two later and we got into it. Starting from the Northern end, Sue & I set up three ‘Shield’ courses at 40% oversize, ...
Today we finally got to do the Three Passes Ride (Track – Gorge – Saddle) which was cancelled due to bad weather a few months back. After yesterday’s practice, I finally got the opportunity to clean the grime from the last ride off the bike and when I checked the fuel log, I saw that this was the first fill for a month, so it’s definitely been an economical period of weather (although there was a wee excursion to the Gold Coast in there). I wasn’t expecting too many ...
On Saturday, I took the opportunity of good weather and organised with Dennis to have another Slow Handling practice. Over the past two months I’ve managed to have six or seven sessions, trying and testing various courses (about eight of twenty plus), practicing a few of them on the ST and comparing how other bikes seem to go, although so far that has only involved Ken on his DR, BMWST on the Paris Dakar and Dennis on the ‘Busa. The process has been quite interesting ...
The day off on Friday isn’t… and I find myself leaving the office around 5pm on Friday afternoon, hadn’t packed yet, but at least I had sorted all the errands. Dinner with family after a little packing, and I continue packing. Finish packing, shower etc, and I’m crawling into bed at 1am. Alarm rings far too soon at 2.30am. Changed into flight clothes, and since I made excellent time to the airport, arrived earlier than I needed. Flight departed just after 6am, but I was checked in ...
The weather forecast was pretty crappy for today but the Ulysses Club still had a ride on…..well at least the Wgtn Branch did…..well…..6 Wgtn members went riding. The programmed ride was up Route 52 to Pongaroa, then out to Pahiatua for lunch but after arriving at Brown Owl in marginal conditions, we decided to play it by ear and see what the weather dealt us, so with that in mind, Ken led out over the Rimutakas and I bought up the rear. After a sedate ride over the ...
I have taken the opportunity of enrolling on the Lower Hutt City Council sponsored and Roadsafe motorcycle course for Sunday 26 June, the course is also available on Sunday 14th August. The cost is only $20 and is from 9am to 4.30pm. Though I have ridden many kilometres and had numerous bikes, over the last 15mths I did not ride very much at all, probably less than 1,000km. Now having recently bought a GSR600 it will be very worthwhile having a review by Andrew and Lynne Templeton ...
A quick insight to the last week: (photographs below and in preceding blog post) GSR600 Sale and Purchase - A private purchase funds deposited online and the use of online NZTA to record sale went smoothly. New owner acquisition and a further six months registration completed following morning in Lower Hutt. The bike is in excellent condition, with principally two private owners and dealership, with good history. At 36,000km and only requiring a new front tyre ...
Leading into winter this week, I have a smile on my face....just purchased a mint Suzuki GSR600. Won't be riding much at all through this winter, still playing golf (go figure??) But really looking forward to next spring. And this song came to mind - Willie Nelson singing... On the road again - Just can't wait to get on the road again. The life I love is making music with my friends And I can't wait to get on the road ...
