Boring stuff about your boring life.

  1. A bloody good innings

    98 Winters, and 97 Summers.

Nana's had a good one alright, seen 5 offspring multiply into god only knows how many grand/greatgrand (and great great too I think)kids... many of whom ride.

From Dads ol' Ariel Red Hunter, to the 250 I am building for my boy, it all started with Nana.

She has entered her final sleep, and will pass anytime soon, we are told she will not awaken again at any rate.

  2. Confessions of a 40 year old racer #5

    VMCC ROUND 4
Well another round behind us, VMCC Round 3 to be precise and it just seems to be a never ending money eating business this racing lark, ya might as well be stuffing $50’s into a meat grinder especially if your crasher from way back lol.
If you want to be semi competitive a good second hand last years nationals machine might set you back around 12K to 15k then there’s the spares like levers, clipons, rims fairings, rear sets another 3k, then there’s support gear like leathers, ...
  3. Ngawi - Lake Ferry

Today was programmed for a short ride to Lake Ferry, but we figured to go via Ngawi first.

Having checked the tyre pressures yesterday I just needed to fill at Caltex Kaiwhara then head to the meeting point at Brown Owl. The weather was great in Ngaio but once I got on the Hutt Road it looked a bit dismal over the Rimutakas.

By 1000 there were ten riders assembled for the briefing and I led out on the free ride over the hill. The conditions were OK, with just the odd ...

  4. In Review – Newbie Training Update and OCPD - Full Licence –March 07

by , 25th July 2009 at 14:45 (Motorcycling and An Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD))
In addressing my OCPD today (2009), I can look back over the period May 2006 to March 2007, and my approach to motorcycle riding.

Though some may see a 'methodical approach', for others reading between the lines of what has been written, they may see degrees of 'perfection-anxiety-caution-catastrophe-avoidance', and in my opinion that would be a reasonable evaluation.

I have now spent over three years riding and approaching 65,000km, and one observation that was made: ...

  5. Another in a shed pop-up found.

Hmmm. This one's in better nick. Just have to negotiate a price for it and drag it back from the Wairarapa.

What would I do with TWO katanas though?

And this one's owned by an old workmate so there's a possibility it could be a ridiculously cheap price too...

I'm feeling a bit like a right jammy bastard at the moment.

Successfully negotiated a good price with Bryce for some replacement forks - the stanchions on the bike really are rubbish ...

  7. In Review – Newbie Training Update & OCPD Advance Riding & Defensive Riding 2007

by , 8th July 2009 at 15:53 (Motorcycling and An Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD))
In addressing my OCPD, I think my whole approach to preparing for my Full Licence, is not only covered in part by doing the courses below, but also the extent to which I interacted with members of the Kiwibiker community.

Advanced Refresher Course And Defensive Driving Course

    Advance Refresher
Having clocked up 11,000km and taken the approach to my new found riding pleasure, I will undertake the Advanced Refresher course on 3 February 2007 with Andrew Templeton
