Boring stuff about your boring life.

  1. Camera mount

Well, spent the last few days making a camera mount for the bike. I saw a SLR tank mount for the Triumph on the net somewhere after I sat looking at the bike trying to decide, handlebars or tank and had decided tank. The mount wouldn't have held my camera, a Canon XL2 which is a pretty big camera. I made up a steel mount and used the screws holding the avation type filler cap to mount it. I can still refuel the bike no probs and it works a treat. With the wide angle lense on it I get the guages ...

  2. The Big Day Out to the Art Deco Festival

I finally got an Avon Storm on the front this week. The PR2 was good for 18,000Kms by the time it got down to the indicator strips and had squared off slightly. I'm not sure how much this affected the handling but the difference between the tyres was significant. The Storm made the PR2 feel like it had been running partially deflated as the bike felt crisper and livelier but at the same time, much more stable.......in fact it felt bloody marvelous and that was good because we had a Big Day Out this ...

  3. Me...just some crap.....

    Age 48, brain cells 1.

Well, I've been ridin since i was 15 although I did have a squirt on my brothers
Suzuki Maverick (50cc) before that but it don't really count cause it was only up the driveway and parking it in the back shed. Mind you, it was at full throttle , in first gear and I only stopped cause the sheds back wall was really strong. Didn't do any damage but he did make me wheel it to the garage where I was supposed to be puttin it. Only missed by 20ft. Pretty good ...

  4. Another Rusty Ride Booked

I used the bike this week, but didn't go for any rides as such as we had whanau staying with us. We discovered recently that an uncle had a child that was adopted out and this week we were able to welcome our 47 year old cousin into the fold. It was nice to be able to help out by having him stay and provide him with a copy of the Family Tree and a CD of old photos.

On biking matters this week, for the third time, I am having difficulty putting an Avon Storm on the front. I can't believe ...

  5. Ah.....The Mini

A bit of a different week this week. I went to the Osteo' for my regular 'grease & oil', attended the Cruisy Wednesday night ride over to the Royal and back, then had some whanau turn-up Thursday night and Friday for the 7's and Wiremu's (step-son) 21st.

The weekend was spent watching a bit of 7's on TV, entertaining over the bar-b-que and a few beers, then washing the car and bike down on Sunday before going for a wee ride to visit an uncle and finished off with a pootle over 'the ...

  6. On Any Sunday

Today was my 1st ride for about 3 weeks as we went to Melbourne for the 1st week of the Aussy Tennis Open. I'm not really a tennis fan but Nanny Ann is and I guess the top echelons of any sport are worth watching...although I did keep a book handy, just in case.

After reading banditRider's Blog yesterday and being reminded that the Chateau to Plateau was on today, I considered joining that ride but it would have meant having a 1,000Km day, and as the bike wasn't really prepared with ...

  7. Homeward bound

Well this will be my last blog entry from Japan. I'm on the plane in a few hours, and as you can see from the pic some things have already begun the journey...
My stuff will arrive in mid February, and once it's certified and I have some wheels under me I will be making the most of the remaining summer. Hope to meet up with some of you sometime.

  8. Happy Birthday Bike & a Ridey New Year

I had three small rides this week.

After work on Monday, I felt the urge for a wee blat so I rode over the Paekak' Hill, then continued up to Waikanae in order to sample the Akatarawa Rd, which I haven't been over on a bike, and haven't driven over for many years. I figured that New Years Eve would be pretty quiet and therefore I should encounter very little traffic, but it was certainly an odd ride. I found the road was so narrow that if I encountered a 4WD coming the other way there ...
