Another year almost over and we've just completed another Muscular Dystrophy Ride, whereby we take Christmas gifts to children in the central and lower North Island.

This year we had a bit of a change and the week before the main MDA Ride, we took presents to MD children in Wellington on the way to our Cancer Kids Ride (which involves turning up to the Cancer Kids Christmas Party and taking them for rides)...so the last two weekends have been a lot of fun and ...

So I class myself as a not too bad commuter, this means that I have not had a crash yet and when I do it will be impressive.

A thread came up a while ago where I posted some of the tips I have about lane splitting and commuting in general, and surprisingly enough I got a green rep from someone I didn't expect. recently picked up a 1998 kawasaki super sherpa (KL250-H2) with approx 9500KM on it, a fair bit of rust on the muffler/join clamp and some rust on nearly all bolt heads and some on the frame frame

the previous owner(s) have stripped the threads in the crank case? for the oil drain bolt, and I received the bike on very low oil with a whole lot of locktite sludge around the bolt holding it in. still the bike started fine. the air ...

Prep for this year's C1KC started straight after last year's one, when, although I had a couple of potential routes, I was doodling on MapSource (as you do) to see just how far we could get from Wellington, ...without doing an out and return, ...and still be a reasonably interesting route to ride. I was hoping to touch Tauranga but had to settle for Rotorua-Putaruru, so I ran the options past my old Wgtn Uly Ride Committee buddies, ...

Since my last blog I've done a few rides but I've been as slack as Gremlin at not getting anything written up!!....again.

Last Sunday I went for a ride with some of the local IAM group....so I had to behave myself!? Unfortunately I needed a decent ride, but it was a bit short and I couldn't be bothered going for a bit of fang after the lunch stop, so I just slotted in with the group and came back over the hill. Since my last blog I've done a lot of short rides but I've been as slack as Gremlin at not getting anything written up!!

I've continued experimenting with the Go Pro in various positions and after trying the side of the fairing and the front above the headlight, the next variation was on 24/08, when I tried mounting the GoPro facing forward on the right pannier. The only trouble was that at the time, I was doing some slow riding so half of the frame is taken up by my fat arse shuffling ...

I didn't think I'd get any riding in this weekend, but today cleared enough to have a start and we ended up with 23 bikes departing from the Plimmerton Weigh Station and picked up Buzz in Waikanae....so, with that many turning out, it was obviously the first half-pie decent day for quite awhile!!

The forecast looked pretty miserable during the week, but in the end it wasn't too bad, proving drizzly on Saturday and quite clear this morning, so last night, I ensured my gear was at hand ...

After the Ulysses event a couple of weeks ago, Jason was keen to do more so we agreed to get together and today was our first session. We met at the the car park by the Petone Rec' on Udy Street at 0900 and fortunately we were that early because I've been out of the kiddy sports scene for some years and had forgotten that it would be busy.
