Biker culture, politics and general issues.
So, Ive been quietly collecting bits for another project Been looking at steampunk pics & decided to make an antique looking ,one step away from a powered pushbike, veteran style velocipede
Last time we worked on the bike it was a major downer. She fired up instantly but within a couple of runs a major death rattle appeared. We stood around, arms folded just staring at her for a good half an hour before we said "fuck it" and went and drank more beers. Anyway, we found what we suspect the problem was - a severe case of clueless fuckwit muppets with tools. Someone had loosened off every single nut they could get a socket on with the sump off, which meant the conrod caps ...
OK, for those that want to "fill their car" with what I'd recommend as fairly bog std crap for long-ish touring rides (ex the Chch Weds Night Rides thread after I reminded them that a tyre kit wasn't a bad idea and then someone did a clutch cable too & then they got all smart-ass): Yeah, well I do carry one of those too - don't want the 6-weeks-ex-germany-its-unobtainium-otherwise BS I'd get via Murphys' law if i didn't have one!... But I thought I'd already lectured the obvious too ...
I have been house bound on Wednesdays for the last few weeks for various reasons, so the Wednesday wedges rides have been on hold. Last night I got "told" to go for a ride by my darling wife and come back a more resonable person. This usually works too ! I can become a bit of a handfull if I dont get a ride for a while. From there, it was but an easy decision to head off to the wild west and peruse some of the roads and locations. I wandered willy-nilly around the back blocks and hills of the Waitakeres. I went around to Piha and through to Karekare. ...
A most welcoming and heartfelt felicitation to you dear reader, this time a most quick missive that may repeat some details from previously, but rest assured, there is a small momentary twist in the tale. I found myself in the afternoon with a small surfeit of time to myself after I had cleared my schedule of interruptions. Off to Maraetai once again to plunder the schools of small baitfish for more fishing tomorrow. All went well and in a short two hours or so I had taken 30 or so ...
Salutations and hail to thee my personable reader, I am back again with yet another interminable rendition of my eclectic ways of using my bike at any excuse. I must say it was not a very big riding day for me, nor was there much in my day except to enjoy the delivery of a package I had ordered from the internet. 1 day sales is a most disarming site that induces you to willy-nilly open your wallet and purchase the delightful products on offer. In this case, I put in ...
