Riding any road. Tarmac, gravel or dirt.
this day a cop can pull you over for any reason that is in their little black book - how ever, just aswell you where on a 250cc and nothing bigger as being on a restricted he could have still fined you, or worse suspended your licence. what he may have been looking for was your bright yellow target known as an L Plate
My dad was here for a week last week. It was great to see him because every time I go back to NZ I go to Auckland, but I don't always manage to get to Levin where he lives. I have told him a few times that he should come over but he never seemed that interested, until lately when I pointed out that I would only be here a few months more and he might not get another chance. We spent a few days getting around by bike since I have so many now ...
I'm working in a new office with a door that doesn't lock. Makes me nervous about leaving my gear here when I go out for lunch-meetings-whatever. Here's a description of the gear I usually wear to work in case the worst happens and it goes walkabout... Helmet: HJC CS-12, black with tinted visor Gloves: Spool size 8, black leather Trousers: Dririder Nordic 4, black Jacket: Spidi On Track, navy blue with silver/black winter liner Boots: ...
I'm not very good at this blogging thing. All kinds of momentous stuff has happened since my last entry and I haven't bothered to blog it. Things like: Got hit by a car in May, I had concussion and a fractured rib. Volty was written off by the insurance company! I bought her back, fixed her up and she's back on the road again with few clues to her adventure. In July I did my 6R test and passed - no more L plate! Since then I've been allowed to do more than 70kph ...
My Beloved stove in the air conditioning unit in her cage by forcing it up against the rear of another cage! Cage to cage combat! Cage menders reckon I'll be the transport captain for a couple of weeks. Night work meeting. All the gear on and we're off to her work. I drop her and cruise on to Milton for tea with the AA (aged aunt). This is fun, like fun should be. Open, dry road, night time traffic sparse. Yeehaaa! After coverstation and tea in the ...
Now this is just getting silly. My mouse button finger slipped again and I bought another bike through an online auction. Only this time it was more costly and will probably cause me to sell most of the other bikes, if not all of them. At least now I can settle on one bike to take back to NZ. It's also nice to finally have a 'good' bike. Every other bike (or car for that matter) I have bought has been at least 14 years old, which makes them cheap to ...
The exact thing which makes my morning scoot commute fun also hightens the danger of the ride and introduces a note of caution on two particular corners as I ride to work. The scoot is short, the handlebars are shorter and the wheels are tiny which makes for a cool, quick steering response and that scoot feeling which plants the smile every time I twist the throttle. Combine this with a couple of corners with gravel remaining after the gravel spreading to minimise the effect of ...
Sunday ride today with Daffyd. The first ride we have had together having met here on KB. When we both turned up at a local visible intersection our bikes were almost as different to each other as is possible. Daffyd had planned an interesting 180km ride with a coffee in the middle. Our route was Balclutha, Greenfield, Tuapeke West, Lawrence, Manuka Gorge, Clarksville Junction and returning to Balclutha. A few K's up the Clutha we met two cruisers coming towards us, we we not sure ...
