I spent about 10 years between my learners and my full. I spent most of that time on my restricted. I guess I enjoyed riding 250's, and didn't have a lot of reason to finish off my full licence.
Congrats, I shall be booking mine in as soon as I am legally able to, can't wait, I am so not into being on a learner licence at my age.
Do not worry about the route, you will be told where to go, enjoy the experiance you will be fine.
If you keep the ALL the lights off, and bumpstart it everywhere, it will run for about 2 hours with the charging system removed. (provided your battery is in good nick, which if the reg/recs gone it wont be) you can just unplug the plug to the regulator. if you go with it plugged in, and it is cooked, you get 20+ volts across the battery, which cooks everything... CDI's are expensive!
dont worry me new to and just tryna figure it out myself yeah the forums where i usually go... good luck
gidday 4 years ago i went to doc i was getting tired ,sent to heart spec 4 blockages need surgery 4stents later and on pills im feeling good ,riding my bike when i can still working ,full time turned 63 last month ,so get it checked, amazing wot they can do these days regards
Onl y ever been as far from Nga to the Wai springs along Waingaro rd in a car looked like it would be a nice quick blast on the bike
Hi kawasutran - sorry if there was a delay in responding to your post. I am not yet used to this forum and how to get notifications. I haunt Ducati forums because I have one. I also have a CBR250RR (MC22) and a 1959 BSA in bits - yes it is a sickness, even when you are as old as me and should know better! We got the bike for AU$250, so thanks for the offer - genuinely I think it was a good price. Personally just reading specs, I would pick the ZXR over the CBR as the screamer of choice. Spares seem to be a bit of an issue in comparison, but with some intelligent Googling, this can be overcome.
Twas a good ride and thats a good write up and I just paid my penalty for having a friendly conversation at Kumara....$120
Sounds like an evetful ride! They're always the ones you remember best though. Good work on avoiding the red pillock.
ONE! must my freind, sounds like a not too unfamiliar riding on a Sunday arvo scenario, take it all with a pinch of salt, treat em all like deaths arch angel and YOU will be OK, happy riding.
Give a moments thought to the action of the rear brake on the bikes suspension....applying that brake compresses the rear suspension (rear squats) and this is beneficial if it occurs marginally before the front is applied as it lowers the entire bikes centre of garvity and reduces the amount of weight transfer to the front so you can use both tyres contact patches for braking for longer (until the rear locks & slides). My braking habit is; apply the rear and then the front and get both of them squirming and howling. The most important part of any braking is practice, get the muscle memory well embedded and I tend to take the contact patch to its limit most times I ride, you need to know what happens next.
Very good write up, thanks. I'm a candidate for this treatment but my eyesight isn't bad enough to really warrant it. How are things now, anything else you've noticed? Has the dryness in your right eye resolved itself?
Thanks guy. I really really enjoyed the ride. I learnt a lot from you while I was following you. Great ride... Met lots of nice people. Hope to stay in contact for the next ride for next summer? Enjoy your golfing...
American way is interesting as trying to get both f&r working to their max potential often ends with chasing that small % @ the rear and losing the greatest % from the front (Locking the rear and releasing both by instinct)
I tend to give it a little bit of back brake and forget about the back. Then I focus all my attention on braking hard with the front brakes.
Haha very amusing. Good to hear others stunned by the passing of time! I hear myself giving my age with incredulity. Acc to PF- " the sun is the same in a relative way but you're older..etc" . Had an awesome track day recently. Gonna persist with denial as long as possible. My wife who truned 51 today was told by kids " you are the same age as my Nana but shes OLDER" -She was really chuffed
