That is a kewl shot alright
Thank you for posting John, I appreciate it and am thankful that you can post this here for us all.
Yes, well, you WOULD say that! But yes, it is a good photo, you're good eh!
Great photo
Well done on an excellent piece of organisation John. I certainly enjoyed the day very much and was sorry to hear the sad news on my arrival at the PWMC at about 2100. Awesome effort form Ron and Jim too. Thanks Guys.
My man and lover ... he was so special .. and he looked forward to this ride all year ... I am happy for a couple of things ... he died doing what he loved .. and he died with people surrounding him ... I am just so very thankful for that. You know .. its right .. we discussed the risks of riding .. and its something that we were/are both keenly aware of. We agree totally that when you accept this risk that it is ok ... and we accepted them as partners as well. Kari/Nasty
make sure its got gas in it homo
and note, my knee goes down hanging off the thing in tight twists, but i've had it quite low and the pegs do not seem to scrape, though i have had my boot slightly over the edges of the pegs and they scrape, wouldn't try going any tighter great bike its a 9.5 in my books, the 0.5 is because it is now lacking power, maybe a gsr750 would be absolutely perfect. cheers, dan k7 07' gsr600
also the bike is too easy to be cheeky in the tightest of inner city auckland traffic. By first glance this bike looks huge with a long wheelbase, but when you hop on and are riding, it feels like the two wheels are 1 under your nuts and 1 just in front of your knob, and so very easy to throw around,
the part where it screams like a gsxr is also fun too, my power band really starts to kick in at about 9000 to 10,000, not sure about 8,500, havent really noticed it, i just go by sound and feel, and the electronic speedo makes going past cops/cameras and sticking to limits a breeze, (new 30km/h limit on queen st now in auck )
hey mate, i've got one, bloody excellent bike, although i just came up from a vtr250, i've ridden a firestorm and k1 gsxr750, i couldn't imagine sitting like that riding everywhere, just not my cuppa, i advise anyone who wants a great bike that looks even better than the hornet to get one hehe,
Excellent report of a real challenge
Great read. Thanks for that. Did you tape yourself singing?
Great report .. well written and takes me on a lovely journey!! Thanks for that John.
Should be interesting to watch, good luck with it, I used to own a GS650, oh photos or it did not happen.
Stupid blog only allows 500 characters!!!!!!! here's the rest of my rant. There was one in Trevor Pierce a while back with a blue frame - same thing - stuffed up the bodies flow. I vaguely recall very late models(pop-up light) having gold frames. By they were no longer 'real' Katanas.
Mark - I respectfully request you don't go the red frame route. It's your bike at the end of the day but IMO the red frame thing looks wank factor 9 on most bikes unless there is something very special about the frame to justify making it stand out. The Katana has such nice lines with it's body that it would be a shame to detract from them with bright frame work.
Toto i am still deciding, i want to keep it resonabl origional as this is more of a resto job nothing radical, but i do want her to be my bike as well jsut slight hints to make it unique, so instead of black frame i am going for a red frame, and the wheels will be black instead of silver, with red pinstriped wheels.
Way to go Mark. Waiting on the picies Have you decided what colours are you going to paint the bike? Sounds like you will have fun. Keep the updates coming - will watch with interest.
