I asked the guys at hyosung if they knew anything about the "retard wire" in the cdi, others have taken out the brown wire and had success. However not sure what your meaning about it cutting out?
Hyosung told me "sure go cut the wire then come back and buy a new cdi unit" they suggested having the machanics look at it at $80 an hour until they find it.
Now I only asked about it didn't say i was going to try anything and he almost busted a nut over my query.
Chances are if I tried anything i'd somehow manage to blow up my suburb

Hi mate, checkout the post called Hyosuck posted by KIPS powerband. He was having similar issues and got some relief. I can't remember how to quote one thread into another but it is easy to find

No worries Jim. Two friends of mine in Chch are currently arranging a Striple test ride down there with the Triumph dealer. They're a husband and wife recently arrived from the UK and are looking at buying two! They were IAM instructors in the UK and looking at taking up the same role over here.

    Good luck!

Geoff, that 300 k you mentioned, is that to empty tank or fuel light on?

Thanks Geoff, l agree, its not so much the economy but how far between stops, Christchurch to Greymouth for example is 240 ks, its better if you don't have to stop.

There won't be much difference between the ordinary ST and the R version. What will affect it is how it's run in and more importantly how you ride it. I can guarantee 260 km per tank of reasonably fast riding and got nearly 300km in economy mode in the middle of the night on the 1000 mi;les in 24 hour ride. You'll find my full evaluation here: http://geoffjames.blogspot.co.nz/201...revisited.html.

As a parting shot, you don't buy a Street Triple for economy!

    Cheers,

    Geoff

I have done this mod also but it I don't think this is your problem as when the vents blocked the bike slowly stumbles to a stop and then won't start for 5 to 10 minutes.

I just did 95 but from what I've been told it only needs 91.... In the end it's only an extra $1 if that..

Keep it coming. Looks like it's going to be a great bike when you've finished.

try wiring out the side stand switch, I use to work on these when working for a hyosung dealership and have seen several faulty swiches. they cut the ingition out for a second when the stand vibrates when hitting a bump. Put a temporary wire link in to the connector up by the tank and take the bike for a ride to test if this is the problem. I would recomend to fit a new switch if it proves to be the problem as taking off down the road with the stand down isn't much fun when the stand digs in.

The digital speedo is a Acewell 2 series.......The front end is almost completes just need to finish of caliper adapter plate(made temp-plate up today) and need to bolt front rotor to hub,The bars arrived to day along with the tail light,so next on the list is a seat pan...one thing though the longer it takes the more its changing

Not convinced with the mirrors at the moment or with the position of the mufflers, yet still plenty of time for the mock-ups to be done.........

I can't remember exactly as my son had the same problem, side stand switch but I think I left the wires disconnected, ie: didn't join them together. Try disconnecting the two wires and see what happens, you won't blow anything up....
