14130 feet...thats where I live and work...I bet the beemer was gasping a bit. Glad to see you are having fun...I need to start planning something like that myself.
"How to make friends and influence people the Gremlin way!"
Happy burfdhay you son of a varmint! About time you posted up some updates!
I'm sure they sell BMWs tho? Go on, you know you want to
Thanks Starbug, its good to see you found a riding course that met your needs. The rider development course conducted in the carpark, was useful, and of course those attending came from varying riding experience - be it the novice or the age old rider. Any riding course conducted by a professional instructor has got to have some benefit and it does boil down to each individual who strives to attain a greater confidence and gradual development of skill. In that regard my rear brake technique was given a good work out in a controlled environment, and that I believe is a key factor. When the instructor encourages the student to try and do a particular activity and the student attempts the task, then for the student, the first step from crawling has commenced. For some it may have been a simple case of revisiting and reviewing skills technique and gaining positive feedback. The particular course I attended did fall short in that regard that no open road riding was included. There is however an advanced riding course conducted by the instructor and I have done two of those courses. That course is pitched at a higher level of skills technique and development and includes open road riding. Regards BB#1
Very interesting blog mate, very interesting. Take time for yourself... my work is very "giving" you need boundaries to keep healthy and for the health of those around and closest to you. I am not in Wellington but thanks for the work you have done. And we all make mistakes, welcome to the human race!!!!!!!! you always get baggers, either through the wonderful gift of hindsight or just because they want to be obnoxious, but the reporter, that is sheer wickedness Enjoy the bikes a bit more
Thoroughly enjoyed reading your blog reports over the past months. Visited many places that I have been (but not by motorcycle), so it was good to hear your thoughts and how you managed. Well done, and good luck with the Asian tour later. Very envious (a similar trip is on my 'bucket list'). Safe travels.
Sounds like you had a great time! Did they not correct and sort out you're rear brake mistake? I'm all for rider training but can't see the point of training in a car park? The surface is different and you can't do road speeds. I've done a couple of the Prorider courses and although they are more expensive i found that the riding time was huge (5-6hrs) and the classroom time was kept nice and short (maybe 1.5hrs) in total over the day. The best training day i've ever had. recommend you try one.
Although of course, they used to. Motorad that is.
I'm out west, call Motorcycle doctors, I usethem, they are ok. I know there is a guy in Henderson Valley road somewhere who repairs bikes, got a friend of mines moped going.
Yep, very common problem, mine used to do it all the time. Was a common complaint when they were new as well, so I hear. I managed to cure it with a new pilot jet needle thingo. Thumped away at 1200rpm no problem. Should be about 2 and third turns out from memory. Good luck!
They all do that. Just wind the idle speed up and ignore it.
These things are prone to just this problem. I've been into a couple of them which have been doing it and it appears that as they age either the ignition pickup becomes less sensitive or the trigger loses magnetism - if it ever had any. The cure is a pain of a job - closing up the air gap between trigger and pickup. It's sidecover off, measure air gap, slot pickup mounting holes, close up gap to approx .015in. I've found that the gap ex factory is usually around .035 in so you're moving it quite a bit. Starting and running is much improved - and most important for you, idle is much more reliable.
Kind of odd you are worrying about gas again ... the Beemer was meant to give you peace of mind. Seems to me you missed the constant fuel niggles your Katie gave!
Finally some piccies of girlies! And the part where the bug splattered on your head ... hilarious! I can hear the ATGATTers tut tutting!
Sounds like this section had a lot of interesting bits for you ... and nothing bad happened! Amazing!
A cracker ride report - full of the wry observations of the best that being alive can bring! To you, the competitor in the arena, goes the spoils of victory!
Had one in the USA. Harley stopped on the side of the road because his oil cap kept popping out. Supplied some zip ties to hopefully get him to his destination. Very satisfying having a BMW help a Harley when I am surrounded by them.
