I hope you sent that to the local paper. It deserves a wider readership.
Very eloquent - but doesn't sum him up quite as "succinctly" as you did when you told me about it over the phone
Great riding skills to avoid a far nastier impact and good on ya for staying with it enough to get the details.
I 2nd that! Make shore you get reparation from him! That will get him i the pocket !
That's great control and composure that you showed. Well done. When it goes to court, put in a statement asking for reparations to the judge, to cover the damage done to your gear.
What a ripper of a trip! Warts and all, thanks for taking the time to share.
Good write up! Brings back memories for me of my trip down those fair roads and places!
Glad to hear you are okay and a positive result from the police. Sorry to hear about your bike being a write-off. On the plus side, new bike shopping time? (And just because I'm slighty biased, go for the Hornet! )
Pleased you came out Ok, nice work on the avoidance to, your own actions most likely saved your life. The Police do get it right, they need help and this time they got it. I hope that driver doesn't drive again for a long time.
Nice to see him being found and done. Pity they will probably be soaking the bus ticket now for his punishment.
Interesting comment about the GPS losing its way near Qtown. We have a lot of trouble with GPS navigation (aviation) down that way - the satellite angle is quite great - the US military have little interest in providing GPS coverage down there - and it can cause us some real issues. We need at least 5 satellites for approach navigation - there is only 3 needed for basic 2-D navigation though - and we spend tens of $1000's on aerials and equipment to ensure we can get into Wanaka and Qtown

I went from the uk and through france, germany, denmark, sweden, norway, over the arctic circle, finland, russia, (out as far as possible and back again) ukraine, poland, southern europe and back to the uk. I went through 17 countries so i've missed a few out there. i bought a crappy old bmw f650 in london for $1200 bucks and sold it for $1250 when i got back there. Did 16000 ks and all in tents. piece of doddle. Pm me if you need to know anything, thoroughly recommended trip. Cost me $2600 not including the flights. so fuel, food and incidentals. You have to do austria, absolutely the best biking roads in europe and the most bikes you have ever seen, everyone in austria has a bike. And visit the ktm factory for the free tour, only on friday though.
Most excellent, sounds like a great trip - will be interesting to read your experiences along the way!
Very well researched by the look of it and I wish you all the best.
