im no insurance expert, but perhaps they are taking into account the cost of a write off, as well as the risk of a write off. perhaps the potentially higher value of the bikes you mentioned, means they are not considered worthwhile risks? though you'd have thought for the right premium they would insure anything. strange indeed! then again, the AA dont know much about cars either, so cant expect them to be logical when it comes to bikes
www.kiwibike.co.nz or if you wish to e-mail Dave Hewer direct dave@kiwibike.co.nz or if you wish to chat on the phone to Dave 0800 629 253. There are I'm sure many more but I have found there pricing good I know of a few riders who have unfortunately had to make a claim or two & have mentioned the speed & ease of dealing with them, good luck & hope you enjoy the forth coming summer riding months
Find a reputable insurance broker. I have had one for about 18 years when I started out needing commercial insurance. I was only in business a short time, but retained the services of the broker. They do all the hard work and shop around for the best deal for all my insurance needs. the only downside is that obviously they get a comission from the insurance companies, so they may have their favourites. That said, my lot do a complete review every 2-3 years to ensure that the prices are still sharp and the policy gives me what I want.
magua, if you paint ur bike like a cop bike, i will burn it.
My wife is 5ft1 and she is riding a triumph Speed 4 with a lowering link .The bike dry weight is 173 kg.
Just looking into exactically this problem at the moment. My partner is 5'2" also. And have found the Suzuki Gladius, and the Yamaha XJ6n are a good fit. 785mm seat height. She sat on the Suzuki And was most comfortable. Feet almost flat. Lowering kit Availiable on E-Bay for the bike also. Hope this helps.
You have barely scratched the surface.....many more good roads to come.
Thanks Dutchee, was a blast of a day !
The Puhoi pub does some decent meals. In Wellsford, the pub opposite the service station (before SH1) does good pizza and the coffee's aren't too bad (especially when it's crap outside). Sounds like you picked some decent roads, there are more out there for you to find

You are 100% correct. I have fixed that issue. The pickups are now at 90° and it works.
Not too sure that a load of strangers with loud bikes would be overly welcomed in a grieving community. Only my opinion, but if you want to do this, all good, but don't turn it into a social event. Time and a place mate.
Great to read about your enthusiasm. I hope you get as much enjoyment out of it as I have.
Are you gearing up to return to racing?
Wait, whenever either of us says that statement, things ALWAYS happens!
Whats the worst that could happen? Just follow me!
You make it sound so sedate! I'm impressed nothing out of the unusual which is usual for you happened! Must get around to doing some of those roads you mentioned, I often wondered where they lead to ... glad you went through them first!
Junction road & surroundng areas are interesting to say the least, having been through there on the Blackbird it makes hard work of the situation particularly when you encounter locals out on their quads !! they dont slow down for anything..... I look forward to the next installment of " GREMLIN GOES ..... "
No... I've only ever had one... that was your fault... Only thing I have found is that cars drive too fast on the gravel roads in the country... don't expect anyone to be there...
Thanks for the enjoying read and pic's Scottie...
