The iPad is on loan from a colleague, who has two. Needed to learn how to use them as clients were starting to ask for help on the infernal things.

At least you can bloody hear the bike revving along now! I've readjusted it due to advice from Dumpty, and it's mounted more appropriately (the pipe lines up more along the angle and the can retainer is more flush now).

It's fun revving it out loud to 10k revs!

    I hate you guys.

    Really, really do.

As per usual, this would not be a typical gremlin foray without something happening. If it doesn't I get extremely worried, because I know something more outrageous will happen. Running out of fuel? With a large extra capacity tank?

    Only gremlin could do that.

Will be interesting to catch up with TOTO to see how much between the lines was NOT said by gremlin!

    And oh yeah ...

    I hate you guys.

At least I got to use up gremlin's bandwidth on his ipad. Yep. He has one. What a closet Apple fanboi he is! Also, gremlin has also admitted how he also insulted TOTO several times to his face, without TOTO actually realising it until several minutes after the fact. Even gremlin had no idea he'd done it - I was just laughing my arse off!

Now, both TOTO and gremlin will be using their GPS's ... I shudder to think of the incredible opportunities for mayhem and mischief that will abound!

I need to keep a shotgun filled with rock salt. Just for this character whenever he turns up. It won't kill him, but it will make me feel a whole lot more better and satisfied when I've shot him full of it!

To be fair, Gremlin is starting to come along in the spannering skills. He even has his own set of tools. Yes, I am very afraid.

I've had +90% for 1.5 years odd... now I feel even more sorry for the oncoming vehicles up north last weekend.

We turn the bike around to face out to the road, to see what kind of reach and visibility the leds have. Then I turned on the low beam. GiJoe squints, acts as if he's about to be blown away like a vampire in sunlight, and squeaks, good god, is that the high beam!! No says I, just low beam... this is high. He seeks protection behind one of the cars in the driveway.

Curious (yes, curiosity killed the cat) I asked him to return the favour. Wow... no wonder I can ride at night with little issue. Them be powerful bulbs.

I gave you a spare bulb. What storage compartment? glad its made a difference.

Yeah p.dath, we know about touching bulb, usually don't touch, just handle the base. If the bulb is touched, I clean it after.

The only problem with carrying a bulb is the filament life can be shortened from the constant vibrations, hence why i don't carry one all the time. I do carry a spare on the Grand Challenge and TT2000. That said, any bulb with at least one working filament is better than none!!

    Give up biking, haha. Never!

I also didn't tell you to get to Whangarei as fast as possible. You took that upon yourself! Silly boy, no throttle control whatsoever

The insurance issue has been looked at before (just 12 months ago in fact). What was found is that the rate of insurance is so high in New Zealand that it was not worth the money to spend setting up a system to track it.

Effectively the system would cost more than the tiny increase in the number of insured vehicles.

Yep, them bulbs don't likies the human oils, it puts the lotion on the bulb and the bulb plays "pop goes the weasel!"

But anyhow, the new +50% bulb works a treat, tested it tonight riding back up from Quasi's in the 'Tron. Cindi approves of her new bling! (which reminds me, better stash a spare bulb into the storage compartment!)

Some types of bulbs can't tolerate human oils on them from your hands. It causes uneven heating and cooling, which causes them to blow much quicker.

Because of this I try to fit bulbs using a tissue now, so my fingers never touch the bulb, and then I give it another wipe once it is installed just in case.

    I know what you're saying Gibbo89,

just thinking aloud about the fact that we are restricted to 250cc, but a new driver (and I should have qualified that as anyone under 18 really - many kids really are not mature enough to drive safely) can drive a 4 litre V8.

I know about the insurance - it should make a difference though, if all had to be insured at the time of paying road tax - the cost of the tax should be lower for everyone if this was the case. Bikers would then not be penalised to the same extent as they are now.

I'm not asking to skip the 70k restriction. Just think that it is more dangerous to do 70 than 85 on sh1, even through kapiti, as drivers come up so fast that they don't realise the speed you're doing. at 85 or so, you have a bit more of a chance.

regarding insurance, you can drive your vehicle without it being insured, if a non insured person runs your bike over then they will end up paying a pittence each week to pay off their debts (if they cant afford to pay for your repairs).

someone can clear these things up for you if i have got anything wrong.

i dont think a mature rider can skip the 70 k speed limit, unless you wrote to ltsa or whatever it is and tried to plead your case and try get some form of exemption if you have to go on the motorway to work everyday etc.

if that fails. remove your l plate when u will break the law...
