  1. Berlin

    Berlin

After hopping off the train a stop late and lugging my 28kg of clothing/ computer/ souvineers through the stinking hot day to my hostel, I was about ready to do a little balck sambo and melt into a pile of ghee. But no. I was strong and soldiered on, training into the city to check out the Jewish museum. The architecture of this place is amazing, I can completely recommend it as a place of interest. And best of all, like most museums in Europe, they have a student ticket price ...

  2. Potsdam

    Potsdam

This part of the tale involves a big-people sized playground, ginger-chocolate icecream, ‘The Brandenburger’ burger bar, a concentration camp and a Stasi prison. Given that the playgrounds and icrecream came first and the prisons second, you could say that upon moving to Berlin my innocence was shattered and I will never again return to those carefree days on the giant piratical climbing frame. But that might be taking things a bit too far.

    Let’s start with ...

  3. ARROGANT MOTOR X RIDERS! "COWBOYS"

I have a bone to pick with a certain group of Motor X riders. I was at Woodend beach motor camp on Saturday visiting my parents where we had a birthday party for my wee 1 year old girl. The other kids were running about having fun and such.... as kids do! Next thing we hear a massive loud noise coming from off road bikes coming down the track that runs along the camp.......Shit here they are again! these bikers were traveling at huge speeds, probably about 5 of them. They rip up the track and have ...
  4. Wellington wrap-up and on....

So, third attempt here at wrapping up my time in Wellington. Two times already I’ve finished my narrative and then lost the document. This time I will be smart about it and put it in a word document first, then cut and past to the site blog.

I don’t really know where to begin now. I feel kind of like a drunk, retelling my story over and over…anyway, back in the States I’m a vet specialist which means that I spent an extra poorly paid 4 years after graduating from Vet school, in ...

  5. 474Kms for a 1 Tank Ride

A night ride was scheduled for Friday this week but after unseasonal snow on the Rimutakas and Tararuas earlier in the week, the weather was still crap so we called it off. Sunday was looking good and I considered a ride up to Tokaanu for a soak in a hot pool, but in the end and after sleeping in, I decided on a reasonable local ride.

The bike was set to go so I just had to get ready and leave to top-up at Caltex Kaiwharawhara, even though I didn’t have a fixed rideplan yet, apart ...

  6. 26km Walk Today

....and 4 weeks off the sauce as well....

Just done a 26km training walk through Woodhill Forest with the team. Fecking hard work but we all made it, even sneaked a peak at the MX guys who were out having a blat.

Could murder a beer but am off it. Still, made the walk and will have to make do with tea....and lots of it.

30km walk up next in 2 weeks, oh the fucking joy of it.....

  7. Daytona charging issues

Problems with the charging system on the Triumph Daytona 955i and Speed Triples 2002 onwards.

I ended up after 3 weeks of owning my bike (with 9000kms) that the rectifier shit itself. Luckily I brought the bike from a shop who then replaced (FOC) with a new rectifier and battery as that was also toast.

Once my bike was back from the shop it was happily starting with no issues…Until winter set in!!!
I hadn’t been told about having to cold start the bike (ie prime ...
