  2. Prague - 15 June 2009

    15 June 2009: Prague

“Thirteen sleeps ago I was in Prague. There were lots of old buildings. I saw a bridge and an opera and our guide kept telling us about a man called Kafka. One day I had pancakes. They were yum.” *Insert crude hand-drawn picture of house/ bridge/ dinosaur here*

That is about the extent of my linguistic abilities right now, my brain feels like it has been run over by a truck after two full days of intensive text analysis in German. At ten to five ...

  3. Another 'Track' Ride

Today was a Ulysses ride to Owlcatraz in Shannon. I didn’t really want to go as I discovered yesterday that my right front fork is bleeding, but as it wasn’t serious and I was the only one from the rides committee around, I thought I should go.

Watching the weather forecast during the week, it didn’t look like the ride would go ahead but it turned out OK on the day so I got ready and departed about 0910 to fill at Plimmerton and get to the weigh station by 0940. By 1000 there were ...

  4. Sneak Preview

Some progress today. A bit of work on the right side midpipe allowing a mock-up to wet my appetite.
Held together here with a bungie cord and duct tape - pretty sure that's what the pros do when building them
Note the seat is just sitting on top and not slotted into position thus sitting a bit high.

After seeing this in position I've another idea for the alloy end caps......

Next step complete the mid pipe, tack it together and fab a mounting ...

  5. My Last Ride (Zukin) My Son

    My Last Ride

My hands are clenched around chrome bars
the engine's rumble sounds so sweet.
I twist the throttle with my palm
and roar off down the street.

    The slapping of my leathers
and raging winds on either side,
drum a beat of sweet contentment
as I ride this.....my last ride.

    Alone on my red bema
to the heavens I've been called,
but fret not my dear loved ones,
I’m not lonely here at ...

  6. Progress - well a little!

    12.6.09

Not much progress - not much free time in the shed lately. I've basically finished the db reducing inserts - picture shows one and a shot of it inserted into the 51mm outlet. The card on the end is another end cap experiment.

The reducer pipe is 35 mm and extends into the inner perforated core. If it is too quiet I just need to lop a few cms off the end of the reducer or depending on volume remove them.

They will be held in place by ...

  7. In Review – Newbie Training Update & OCPD August 2006

by , 11th June 2009 at 21:48 (Motorcycling and An Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD))
Looking back at the previous entry talking about coming off the GN250 in the carpark and then reading the following entry below here, I can recall the hurt pride in damaging the bike albeit only superficial damage. For the remainder of that month, August, I can now (2009) get in touch with my determined efforts as they were then, to try and redeem myself in my own eyes. Around this time I started to broaden my wings so to speak and challenged myself to 'exploring' the Wairarapa district and at the ...

  8. Hmmm, the intake ports are different...

Well, having done the roughing out of the intake ports I find very different ports at the end. The engine actually has two quite different porting jobs already done on it.

Yep, a wally has been here before me. I thought the worst was the screwdriver that had been used to pry the cases apart; or maybe the piston that was in backwards (piston ports showing in the exhaust port). But no. They have actually put a barrel from another model with different porting onto the engine. ...
