Well the weather was just too good to pass up, So we set off 9am from Nth Shore to Papakura to fill up, Down SH1 and left onto SH2, roads were dry and reasonably heavy with cagers and bikes. Headed to Paeroa and on through the Karangahake Gorge to Waihi where there was a market day with some added attractions, the hotrod/vintaqe boys had some nice looking cars and bikes on display, some interesting machines. On to katikati and lunch for Lo & I. After a break we tagged on to a couple of Trumpy's ...
It was most fortunate that I called to see my dad when I was out riding last Sunday, because he collapsed on Monday and passed away early Tuesday. My dad was a ratbag…He stole the chips off my plate and made me hug my sister after I teased her into a frenzy. He watched me play sport, encouraging me and giving tips on gamesmanship, which I might add, he was an expert at the art of legal dirty tricks. He took us on family outings to rivers and beaches, ...
I shined up the VFR the other day to take some photos of it. After fussing around posing it and getting the sunlight direction right etc, lavishing all this attention on it, I noticed my other bike peeping into the corner of one of the photos. Well now, I thought, ...
The exact thing which makes my morning scoot commute fun also hightens the danger of the ride and introduces a note of caution on two particular corners as I ride to work. The scoot is short, the handlebars are shorter and the wheels are tiny which makes for a cool, quick steering response and that scoot feeling which plants the smile every time I twist the throttle. Combine this with a couple of corners with gravel remaining after the gravel spreading to minimise the effect of ...
Sunday ride today with Daffyd. The first ride we have had together having met here on KB. When we both turned up at a local visible intersection our bikes were almost as different to each other as is possible. Daffyd had planned an interesting 180km ride with a coffee in the middle. Our route was Balclutha, Greenfield, Tuapeke West, Lawrence, Manuka Gorge, Clarksville Junction and returning to Balclutha. A few K's up the Clutha we met two cruisers coming towards us, we we not sure ...
Another real busy week at work and I was privileged with a visit from my mates Jake & Eleni. After our niceties, Jake was excited to take me outside to show me his digger that he had just picked-up from the toy library. That was cool and I sent them off with the appropriate sugar fix. I wasn't planning to ride this weekend, but I figured I needed a fix on Saturday after I felt the need to go down the Ngaio Gorge and back up Onslow Road to get from Ngaio to Khandallah, so after getting ...
I only commute 3 k's each way to work. I find it interesting to look at just how I carry things on this tiny scooter. This week I had to cary home 22 basketball uniforms and a ball. The uniforms fitted under the seat ok, but the basket ball had to sit on the foot plate. Commical to get underway with a basketball rolling around on the foot plate. It's ok when you twist and go as one foot either side of the ball holds it in place. Still funnier when at a stop sign, one foot down to ...
Dedicated to the memory of Uncle B. Thanks Rosie and Quallman1234 for your selections this week and to Rosie and Quallman1234 congratulations you will be our selectors over the next fortnight. The selections this week do have a theme ‘personal improvement’. The joy and pleasure in riding, seeing the progress we have each individually made, and also the progress we see in others. This week I posted an entry regarding my own transition/s moving up from ...
