  1. Race Debut... or not.

The Race debut of the ZXRD400 didn't happen.
Something is not right with the tuning and I'm going to do a bit of testing once the damage is repaired.
    Oh yes, the damage…
Practice Day. First session it was very rich so I went from the 220mj to the 210mj. I only did an 'out lap' and an 'in lap' (so one full lap and some).
Second session. 'Out lap' it felt better straight away but I decided to come in to check it over. It had other ideas and it seized on me going into ...

  3. 3 For 13

One could be forgiven if they thought that I am about to launch into a tirade about the New Zealand Cricket Team...but no, this weekend I've managed to do my first three rides for 2013!

When I got back to the office after after Christmas, I was pleasantly surprised to find the replacement stebel horn had arrived so that was fitted straight away....works good, but I didn't get to go for a ride, then had to work Thurday and Friday and didn't expect to get any riding done this weekend ...

  4. Revised the carburation

I've been given a couple of VM28 carbs from an RD400. All the standard jets etc in place so it was an easy job of cleaning them up and inserting the 'baseline' jets and needles.
I've remade a couple of parts I wasn't 100% happy with and added the tailpiece and hugger. Also added is the top fairing bracket with will hold the number board for now.
A change has been made to the gearing so we'll see the results soon.
Next time out will be PMCC Track day on the 12th of Jan at Manfeild. ...

  5. 2012 In Retrospect

    Thank God that’s over!!

2012 has been another ‘short’ year where I feel I’m just getting used to writing ‘/12’ for the date and it’s already time to start on ‘/13’!

Highlights for the year were:…..Bugger Me! I don’t think there were any!!

    Lows:
    • I missed the TT2000 due to a lack of pingers (couldn’t sell the old red, painting flats and too many trips), plus the dodgy-hip and lack of conditioning. That was a bummer because I was planning to do

  6. New Project December 2012 - the Kawasaki Zephyr

Purchased a 1991 Kawasaki Zephyr on 3rd December from a mate who bought it as a project himself.I was fortunate enough to get it off him before some random stranger purchased it for destinations unknown..wreckers, oddball doer uppers, who knows where this poor lovely bike could've ended up.

    Day one

this is her on the day she arrived in my garage, the hard stuff was pretty much

  7. A sudden urge to...get in to the unknown. By Conquiztador

I wanted to travel from Haumoana (outside Napier) to Palmerston Nth. A easy 2 hour trip. I have done this trip a multitude of multitude of times. There was many options of how to travel, but in my wisdom I decided to take my 65 Pan. As I had plans to ride on her to Waihi Beach to see Blacklistt and Devilskin (and one more band that escapes me) on 22 Dec I concluded that this would be a good presidents run...

The plan was to do a daylight run. My notes told me that I was to leave at ...
  8. AMCC Round 3 @ Hampton Downs

I thought I was sitting in the pits at Paeroa it was so hot at Hampton Downs. It was a real scorcher, especially sitting around in bike leathers.

Friday was really hectic. I had to change the oil and filter, get everything back on the bike as I'd pulled all the fairings and some other bits and pieces off while sorting out the quick shifter and shift lights and a couple of other bits, give it a wash and polish, change some of the stickers cos I'd put them on ...
