  1. Riding around Europe Post 16: Ruse to Crete

I liked Bulgaria when I rode there on my pushbike last year.
The people don't take themselves too seriously, make great salads, invented Yoghurt and did USSR's assassinations during the Cold War.

I headed for Ruse, just over the border and the River Danube from Romania and stayed in the English Guest House, same place as last year. They seem to collect an eclectic range of guests and the self styled Entertainments Manager , a Londoner called Carl took charge of me. ...

  2. On The Road Again - A Recent Reply To Recalcitrance

by , 1st August 2011 at 19:13 (Motorcycling and An Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD))
No matter how I try to express my positive and supportive comments, that of themselves may appear to deride the overall tenet of Ulysses, my comments are intended to be provocative and also to be in a healthy context. It is and never has been my intention to decry Ulysses. But, when I see there is a need for positive encouragement and reinforcement of motorcycle safety then I will never take a backward step.

Where we have the ability, the strong and positive encouragement, to improve ...

  3. USA D16: Banff to Whitefish, USA (31/07/2011)

6am. God… too early and 5.5 hours sleep. Murray isn’t even up, and I finally beat him for once, rising straight away. Pass him his cereal, breakfast in bed. Heh. Packed and geared up, bike loaded. 7am, blimey the hour went quickly. All the bikes are assembled and we head away just after 7am.

380 odd miles to cover, just over 600km. The roads are much more open, we’re heading over the prairie which is markedly different to the previous forests. A brief stop in Longview ...

  4. Uly’s Going Slow

Today hailed the introduction of Police Rodeo riding to the Wgtn Ulysses.

We’d organised the day for a short ride around Whitemans Valley and Moonshine Road for the members while I set up the courses at the Riverbank Carpark and although I intended to get there at 0900, I was a bit early after putting some fuel in, and arrived at 0830. Ron & Sue turned up a minute or two later and we got into it. Starting from the Northern end, Sue & I set up three ‘Shield’ courses at 40% oversize, ...

  5. Riding around Europe Post 15: Brasov to Ruse

Hayden's big band was playing full pelt in my head when I woke next morning. Luckily I had some fruit juice and water and took two panadol to help quell the noise.
I remembered I had made some commitments and it was not until I found the piece of paper in my shirt pocket with all the instructions where to meet at 11am that things became clear or, at least, less cloudy. It was now 9.30. I had to shave, shower , buy some kind of wedding present and find Magda's house.

  6. USA D15: In Banff (30/07/2011)

Woke up before the alarm! Ok, so it was only set for 9am. Ken rang at 8.20am to confirm the late morning tour of the Banff Hotel and buffet lunch we were having today. How to meet, bring the dollars, yep, see you outside on the bikes. Rolled over and went back to bed until 9am

Finally got up, read Mark and Gerry’s blog (http://kiwisridefar.blogspot.com/) and generally wasted time until just after 10am, then getting ready and grabbing the necessary little things.

  7. USA D14: Jasper to Banff (29/07/2011)

Why does the alarm ring at stupid times like 7am? I really should stop doing that, but then, I guess I do need to get cracking, see some scenery, ride some roads and check into a new place. No complimentary breakfast today, so into the Inn’s restaurant for a quick brekkie of cereal and orange juice. Typically, having cleaned the bike the previous day, it had rained during the night, so I dried the bike off.

Back in the room, I thought fuck it, it’s still chilly out, I’ll ...

  8. Mouth wet with anticipation

Supplier sent me photo's of the parts he sending me. It's like waiting for Santa's presents. I managed to scrape up the money for a race shock and cams so come September I'll be back.
