I'm always up for a detour up the hill if I'm on the ride btw!
DIck - I have a DT230 sitting here (Joe - its here if you want it to sit yours)
    Okay Takapari Rd it is

I always leave my accommodation bookings to the last minute unless I have no choice (called the holiday park from Ashurst on the last RRRR) just because to many things seem to come along and f*ck up my plans.

If the weather is really bad and I bail - it certainly doesn't stop you guys from going - although surely the holiday park would let you slip the booking back to the following weekend?

Sorry to hear that Joe - it won't be the same

I've just heard that there is a memorial ride for Zukin in the Coromandel this weekend.

It would be nice if we could find someway of remembering him on this ride - they are collecting money for the Westpac helicopter so maybe those who are financial enough can make a donation which I could forward on to the memorial ride organizer?

Err yeah, I know mate and I remembered your generous offer to borrow it BUT unfortunately I couldn't get answer on your phones Monday mornin(think I left message but not sure!), so had no choice to go rent bike or pay for another test slot which would've been 88 bux anyway!!! Am sure you were probs already hard at work and test was 12.45 so it was unfortunately very short notice on my part. C'est la vie!
(Might be needin a loan of the DT230 in 3 months tho( ) as the electrics on Ben's DR250 were lookin a bit terminal; then again I'm no expert in that area!)
    Cheers, Dave

google maps shows Te Apiti Rd as going from Waimarama (south of Ocean Beach) down to Kairakau Beach whereas my AA map indicates that this road has a break in the middle.

anyone know what the story is?

    mark.
    look at earth maps.
there is a section between both roads, looks like its a paper road, crosses farm land.
there is gravel roads at eather end and grass in between.

    Sorry guys, I'm a definite non-starter this weekend - just can't afford the 2-dayer!

I'm going to pass now as well. Weather looks like it's not going to play nice.

Sorry to say I'm going to be out as well , it appears this DR 750 requires more work than previous owner was willing to disclose , not the most honest transaction that I've ever been party too.

its become apparent that everyone hates me and no one wants to ride with me any more

so I'm canning the ride and am going to sit at home and think dark lonely thoughts.

well that's not quite true - Bart is going to Akitio tomorrow so I intend to tag along. He mentioned a magic word that I can't resist - Makairo
