You don't build a rat bike they just happen over a number of years as parts break/fall off and are replaced with whatever you have available to do the job!

Isn't that where the whole "Chopper" idea came from? Parts weren't as readily available back in the 60's (or whenever the 'chopper' thing was) so guys fixed their bikes buy 'chopping' other parts from whatever they could find up to suit their bike.

Sorry, not a very good explanation there, if someone can be a bit clearer than myself feel free to enlighten

Love that big green rat too! Way cooler than any of the other choppers you see.

pretty new to bikes having spent the last 25 years messing with hotrods, rat bike? im assuming this is the same principal as a rat rod, which is a rod that is put together from whatever is available, and you dont give a crap what it looks like, I would imagine the same be said for choppers/bobbers but thats a real hot rod, the way it all started brfore the glamor girls got their hands on them

    Rat bikes Rock

    I love them.
Arguing with an Engineer is like wrestling a pig in mud.

After a while you realise the pig is enjoying it.

It all comes down to how it's done.

If it's just a heap of shit that has been left to slowly decay/rot then it's just a pile o' crap. The lazy, careless man's way of trying to look cool....and failing.

On the other hand, like good rat rods, if something has been cleverly engineered and hides a wealth of trick parts under a hand crafted patina of age then it works for me.
