"Congratulations" You had a motorcycle injury in 2007

A couple of weeks ago, ACC sent me a letter requesting me to fill out a survey from Otago University regarding a motorcycle injury I sustained in 2007. As a bribe they offered me a $10 petrol voucher.... Due to the fact that I could not be arsed and did not feel like being helpful that day I declined.

Today I get home to a bloody 25 page survey from Otago University. "This questionnaire has been sent to you becuase you had a motorcycle injury in 2007". Apparently they would like to understand what it is like to have a motorcycle accident on a public road and how I coped with my injuries. They go on to say that there aim is to find ways of reducing injuries and improving outcomes for riders.

Why the hell are they only asking people who had accidents in 2007? Was this a special year or something??

I am tempted to tell them that the only way they will stop injuries from motorcycle accidents is to ban them.... Or maybe people should only be allowed to ride there bike in 'even-numbered' years!

Yeah, I might take it to work and do it, lol! Only problem is, is that all my road accidents happened in 2007. Maybe they could send me 3 or maybe 4 survey's and I could get 3 vouchers?

    The irony.

They are providing you with the means to go out and have more accidents.

Yeah, perhaps NOT the best thing to tell them.

Fill it in and they might take some notice.
State that you are concerned about the danger cheesecutters pose to riders. Have a go at the state of the roads in your area, location of manhole covers on roads or other dangers we face on a daily basis. The paint on the roads not being non-slip??

Use the survey as a "Good Thing"(tm-BD)!

How do they think it would feel having a accident on a Public Road, comfortable (NO), more like scary, frightening and a Huge wake up call.
How is filling out a questionaire and giving you a $10 Petrol Voucher going to help them prevent Motorcycle Accidents on Public Roads?
Next thing they will be trying to ban ALL Motorcycles from being on the road and I know that will never happen.
Why dont they educate all Road Users, (Motorcyclists, Car Drivers, Truck Drivers and Cyclists) that the roads were built for all of us to use and to have more concideration towards each other whilst using them.

Yeap got the same pack today as well, haven't opened and read the questions as yet but I will do it. All about helping them improve things for us, (hopefully) all in the name of research aye

And perhaps they give time because some accidents end up in courts and take years to go through hearing and outcome. Had mine in 07 case went through till 09, finished this year.

While I was in court I also sat through a bike accident case which happend in 05, 4 years ago. Made me realise mine wasn't too bad.
