Is there an equivalent charge for motorcyclists, or can we get busted for carless driving every time we go out for a pootle?
    Yes, it's called bikeless riding.

I make a point of never driving without my car OR my truck.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

The policy around diversion was recently updated. Diversion can infact be used more than once, ask certain members of the All Blacks. Lots of factors need to be considered.

Start by being nice to the cop that deals with you. They have alot of sway.
Seriousness of the offence. Dont expect diversion for your first homicide.
Previous Criminal and Traffic History - This doesnt exclude you getting diversion. An example is a 45yo could get diversion, despite having minor convictions for offending when they 20.
More than one diversion is possible. Again, there would normally need to be a decent amount of time (years) between instances of prosecution for a second diversion to be considered.

Always worth a try. Discuss the diversion option with your lawyer or with the police prosecutor.

I'm not wasting diversion on getting busted for driving without my car.

Well, you should. It ought to be a serious charge

The consequences of driving at 100kph without your car/truck/motorised pogo stick could be serious indeed . (Actually the driving is probably OK. But how do you intend to stop without any brakes?)
