Not the students' fault at all...

Apparently the riots in Dunedin were not the students fault at all. It was caused by the outlets that sell cheap booze .... who would have guessed that ...

FFS,I saw an item saying a liqour outlet could be fined for selling beer for $1 can, last I saw that's what most sell for on special,be it supermarkets or liqour stores.Different story maybe if a bar,but what's the difference to students Thursday having rtd for $3.50 each at bars everywhere.

    Hey!

Wasn't this sort of shit supposed to stop happenning when Labour left office?

You know, punishing private businesses because students will be students?
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

It's so good to see the trailblazers of tomorrow hiding behind political correctness and the 'No Care No Responsibility' ethic that our great country is being subjected to.

Not me, blame that booze shop, they sold it to me...like....and stuff

    It's bollocks it is

Perhaps they've just figured that it is *mainly* the idiotic students that do something like this. You're hardly likely to change what they do no matter ho hard you try because they really are just that stupid.

So, on the constant human need to blame someone, they've gone for the only one who might actually change the way they do things. Which is the liquor shops.

Not exactly fair in the least, i'm sure it'll eventually end up to liquor stores refusing to sell alcohol to students during certain times of the year. That'll be hilarious.

"Can I see your student ID?"
    "Yeah Sure"
    "Right, fuck off then"

Frog marched to the cash point and then to the liquor store at gun point.

And as for that uncharacteristic behaviour................

But beer up to $100 per bottle, that will solve all problems. I don't think so.

How the liquor industry markets itself and our society's acceptance of our drinking culture isn't just a coincidence.

That approach has worked in some places like Singapore.

I didn't read anything in that article about students trying to blame the problem on anyone else.

It's so good to see the "adults" of today are unable to even comprehend a five sentence news article.

In no way or form were any of the students involved blaming the liquor store - instead some batshit insane anti-alcohol lobby group was using this incident as a chance to promote their own agenda.

'Course, the oldies are so quick to blame the young'ns. Even if admittedly some of the behaviour at the Undie 500 sounds to be less than socially acceptable, 'tis still worth a chuckle at how quick some people are to skip past actually reading an article, and jump straight in to blaming the awful young noisy folk of today.

You guys must have had fun growing up in that covenant.

Edit: Ach, beat me to it MattRSK.

I despair of the youff of today.

No burning couches, no exploding cars and not a single dead body floating face down in the harbour, clothed inappropriately.

I bet no one drilled holes in the bottom of beer cans and then filled them up with urine either.

The article didn't even attribute it to students. Alcohol Healthwath are awell known wowser prohibitionists. They just wanted to slag off the evil liquor stores.

    Point taken,

My point being that these will happily hide behind this 'batshit insane anti-alchohol lobby group' rather than take responsibility for their actions.

Now, if you dont mind, I was enjoying a nice pipe while listening to the World Service on my wireless. Fetch me my slippers will you and please turn that gramaphone down....tsk...
