Yesterday (all my troubles seemed so far away..)

Anyhoo. Seeing the thread on 6th sense reminded me of an incident where my 6th sense let me down (it serves me well 50% of the time).

car coming onto NW Motorway comes screaming up the emergency lane, merges over just as it gets parallel to me and kindly forces me to move right. I brake at the same time and noticed the custome plate on the car.

With a little help from someone online here I found the home address of that car, owner's name etc and verified it lived quite close to where I saw it.

So I wrote them a thank you note.

I thought you might want to know that you are not as anonymous as you think you are in yor car.

There is no thread involved, but I though it might be fun to just let him know that he was being watched, and the fun part is he has no idea who by.

That's the end of it but I wish I could have seen his face when he got the note...

Have you seen him since? If so how was his driving? He could have just gotten another plate for the car so now he is less recognizable..

What a great idea. Plate info should be available to us all. Big Brother doesn't faze these people, maybe Little Brother can make a difference.

I think we should get that printed into a form where you can just add the name of the offender, perhaps with the title "This is not a ticket - but it should be"...

To be honest that was my thought, combined with the fact this guy probably expected nothing to come of it, he got wild, he gesticulated madly and it was over (he "won"). Nothing I could do on the road... I had a bike and if was a nutter... he'd plow me into the road.

So I let him know...

Im (kinda?) sure that for a small fee you can go to the post shop and request the details of the owner of number plates etc? Could be wrong tho . . . . :unsure:

Form MR31 from any LTSA agent asnd a fee of (I think) $2.25/. They tell you on the spot. You have to provide ID though which is a bit suspicious

Is it just me, or does it seem that you have to have ID to do any bloody thing these day's?! . .. . Maybe big bro IS watching?!
Or maybe in case something "mysteriously happens" to that persons vehicle or them I guess that would make the person who requested there details a suspect? :spudwhat:

Dunno about suspicious... it stop people nicking other people's cars etc - tracing them down from the rego plate.

Of course if it came down to it, and they wanted to know why I wanted the address (and/or why I dropped the note in the letterbox) I'd proudly respond with a description similar to the one above.

I did nothing wrong - and I pointed out that I was annoyed but the actions of the prat that did. I went out of my way to improve society and if they have an issue with it I'd be genuinely interested to understand why.
