People.....remember these are currently only proposals. Nothing has been decided, and judging by the ground swell of opposition to the changes not too much of the current proposals will actually make it through to the final legislation in their present form.

This is the reply from ACC to my submission:

Thank you for taking the time to let us know what you think of the proposed 2010/11 levy rates.

We have received your submission and it will be considered by the ACC Board as part of our process for preparing recommendations to the Government. These recommendations will be published in all major newspapers during November 2009 and on our website, at www.acc.co.nz/consultation. We will also contact you at this time to let you know what the recommendations are.

It is anticipated that the final decisions on levy rates will be made by the Government in December 2009. In making these decisions, the Government may choose to accept, reject or modify ACC’s recommendations.

If you have any further queries please email us at consultation@acc.co.nz or contact us on 0800 ACC RATES (0800 222 7283).

    Yours sincerely

    Keith McLea
    General Manager, ACC Insurance

I am also reliably informed that the decision making process could well drag out into the New Year and then whatever is decided will not become law until around June/July 2010.
The only certainty is that there will be changes to ACC, outside of that it's wait and see and make your opposition known at this stage.

Why haven't we got an option for 'Fighting for your rights so we don't have to make a decision to sell'.

The way you guys are talking, it sounds like the govt has already won...

I reckon you could just about get away with that, at least at the Post Office.....might be different if you get pulled up though.

No sir, sorry. They are flying a kite right now. If it stays up they WILL implement the changes as proposed. If there is massive opposition and they fear for their jobs and perks (the only real language politicians understand) the proposals will be changed. Hit it now and hit it hard

Not disagreeing regarding kite flying etc., not so sure that they will implement changes as proposed. I tend to agree with those that think they are hitting us with an outrageous figure to soften us up for something a little less, say around $500 for the ACC component. The point I was trying to make (perhaps not well) is that these are proposals at this stage, many people seem to think the changes have already been enacted.

However, regardless of our differing viewpoints on that, I wholeheartedly agree that now is the time to protest. Apathy will certainly get us nowhere.

If anyone hasn't already done so, write/email the PM, Nick Smith and your local MP at the minimum, make a submission to ACC (before November 10th) and shell out $20 and join BRONZ and lets fight these fuckers.

Must admit I probably will. Don't get me wrong I love riding the scooter. But what with the over zealous road policing debacle, Takas rooted for the next 2 years and now this? I'll fight it all the way, but if Nick Smith gets his way I feel that the the burden just isn't worth carrying.
Unfortunately for those of us who want to continue to ride, (without consequence of infringement) number three is our only choice, in the mean time! Bastards!

I voted National in preference over Liabour, waste of time, no difference! (never has been)

I will vote Libertarianz next time, in preference to "all of the other left wing collectivists"!

Should we take the Paul Henry approach and start a group?
