It's not Assurance either. It's a compensation scheme designed to remove the need for litigation between the affected parties.
Come on guys! We have to get this straight.
1. ACC is not insurance. The ACC Automotive account does NOT subsidise motorcyclists. It can be made to appear that way because we are the only group singled out, despite the four main road user groups (Pedestrian, Cyclist, Motorcycles, Other Vehicles) all costing between $19k and $25k to repair each victim with motorcyclists being the lowest.
2. The Government and ACC are making up figures to justify the increase. They claim to collect $12m, which is about 4-6million short of what they do get going on rego figures. They claim that each other vehicle on the road subsidises motorcyclists at $70 each. There about 100000 bikes on the road and 4,000,000 other vehicles. $70 each adds up to $280 million, more than 4 times the $63 odd million they want from us.
3. The Increases are not the issue. Being singled out for abuse and lies is.
4. The goal should be to get the ACC rego levy on motorcyclists removed and have us pay what all other road users pay. Not to fight the increases. That will just earn us a lesser increase.

The "compensation" wasn't compensation for being injured . It was (is) compensation for giving up the right to sue.
When you give up a right, you usually reckon on some sort of compensation.

I noticed this afternoon that the old Thordon Tavern is about to be renovated for the royal Thai Embassy, I didn't catch the name of the Contractor, Could we approach the contractor and or Thai embassy to see if we can use the old carpark for bike parking on the 17th, because I noticed the whole area was fenced off with construction fencing, and this site is only a hundred yards up the road from Parliment.
Good points but the stage has been set.
Crossing Fairway Drive won't be an issue. We'll stop traffic to let some bikes through, let a few cars go, followed by more bikes etc. We do it on bigger Wednesday night rides, we can do it for the Bikoi.
Bikes will be held up at the traffic lights to get onto the motorway anyway as well as various sets of lights along the way. So the group will get split up into subgroups. But the front group will not travel faster than 90km/hr to avoid having the tail needing to speed to catch up.
I have about 4 sheets of Custom Wood 1200mm x 800mm and maybe some old paint, would any one like to paint some small bill boards, I have the Artistic tallents of half a brick, so requires some one with some Tallent, I can deliver these in the Wellington area, was thinking we could stand them up with some garden stakes in key spots.
Life is unfair, and people aren't that sympathetic to the "unfair" argument.
Using examples like that publicly is PR suicide because pointing out cyclists isn't going to garner us any support, politically or from the public.
Stick to our facts and our argument, and be awake to the fact that 40% of motorcycle fatalities are single vehicle accidents caused by the rider losing control in a corner.
