Key said the changes to the sexual-abuse compensation rules were based on clinical decisions, not financial, and the Government could not get involved.
He said changes might be made to the level of increases for motorcylists.
"There's always a possibility there will be changes there. These are the proposed levies from ACC, not the ones that have been adopted by the Government."
Key said the ACC had advised him that there was still a high degree of cross-subsidisation from car drivers to motorcyclists.

If I read that right, it seemed to say they could be flexible with the ACC Levies, but I geuss that depends on how much pressure we can bring to bear on the Government.
keep in mind we are dealing with Politicians, regardless of wich party they stand for, they will tell us what we want to hear, then go and do what they want to do onece they think we have forgotten.

this is is a test balloon,I have always felt that: pick the most unsupported, easily vilified minority and project an outrageous and unfair toll on to them and see how much they (and any potential supporters) push back,and then make consessions to your fraudulent demands to give the illusion that democracy and citizens protest makes a difference....

I still say we should be fighting for the immediate scrapping of the current increase proposals and 'forcefully suggesting' a full review into a fairer method of apportioning ACC costs.

There will never be a fair system unless they drop every levy we pay at present and introduce a levy for being Human.

I'll go further and suggest that,ultimately,we should all refuse to register our bikes.(what am I thinking?Kiwis growing spines?)

You're right, Pixie. That would certainly force their hand. There'd be a few prosecutions and some would be made scapegoats, but it would have the desired effect.

John Key smashed Phil Goff in question time at Parliament yeasterday.
Mr Goff asked about the 300% inc levy on large motorbikes, Mr key replied they it wouldn't cost them anything if they 'borrowed' the motorbike.
All of the house that got the joke laughed.

Hon Phil Goff: Does the Prime Minister think it is fair that motorcycle riders are facing levy increases of up to 300 percent; if not, will he work with Labour to ensure that that massive increase in costs faced by bikers will be substantially reduced?
Hon JOHN KEY: I guess the first thing I would say is that Mr Goff should rest assured that people do not have to pay that big increase if they only borrow a motorbike, and do not actually own it. The second point I might add is that the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) is proposing what it is fair enough to say is quite a significant increase for owners of larger motorbikes, with a proposed levy increasing by about $500, to $781. As I said yesterday at my press conference, it is worth remembering that on the advice we have had from ACC, a full cost recovery levy for motorcycle-only accidents is $2,215 and if we take into consideration accidents where a car is involved, the levy should increase to $3,770. Yes, it is a big increase, but other New Zealanders should know they are already substantially cross-subsidising motorbike riders.

He,s not crumbling yet, however there are many common issues on ACC funding that are affecting all sections of the community, and the 'fully funded' is right across the top.
