mate! where have you been? she barely made it out of the harbour before she had to be rescued and towed back to safety, delayed her departure for about a week! this was a big deal in aus about 2 mounths ago

For any kid with balls I would throw in a buck or two, help her out with encouraging comments not negative one's....At least she will be able to remember her adventure and probably make money from it in time to come..

While we all sit around bemoaning our lot, a few folk get out there and do it. In this case a 16-year old girl sailing around the world, non-stop, on her own.

The 'authorities' tried to stop her. 'Too young. Too inexperienced. Female. Not competent'. But Jesse beat them all back. And now this wee slip of a girl is currently about 1,000 miles from everywhere, on a very small yacht, heading toward the mandatory equator crossing before plunging down into the Southern Ocean and Cape Horn.

Can we emulate her and say to the authorities, 'Screw you. I'm sick of being raped.'?

Here's a girl. Not a woman. A girl. Teens, unless they're really tough, tend to group and wait for a leader. Not this girl. Here's a tract from her blog....

Can you imagine what it is like to be in the middle of nowhere, on your own, with the immense responsibility of surviving everything the ocean may throw at you? I guess that unless you've been out there, even on some flash cruise ship you have no idea as to what the ocean can throw. I've been out there in all manner of boat and conditions go from idylic to maelstrom in almost a blink.

Wouldn't you feel a bit more comfortable knowing their was other boats around, just in case everything went to hell in a hand basket?

Hmmmm, I thought it was a young Aussie girl that collided with an oil tanker but there is another younger (Dutch?) girl attempting to be the youngest ever solo round the world that has had to fight the authorities

The Dutch girl has been forbidden from starting her journey by a Dutch court.
