Very positive wireless interview with Kerre

    Somebody (Woodham ?). 1ZB I think.

Even forgive them for waking me up on Sunday morning.

Proferred unprompted that we were getting general public support because people saw us as "the thin end of the wedge" (her words).

    That's middle NZ speaking.

We definately need to start pushing this point. People are aware of it and we can get much more political traction than arguing about numbers.

(And this is AFTER the ACC advertisment, too)

    As I suspected.

Joe Public ain't that stupid after all.

Totally agree with you on tactics from now on.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

thats what we want....now we need to get the AA to realise that that is the point,AND that as motorcyclists many are also "motorists" AND members of the AA and for them to oppose the targeting of specific groups.

I've been thinking:The class that Campervans fall into is getting a $285 levy increase. The Motorcaravan Association may be a good ally to approach.

I spoke to an 80 year old lady on Friday night. Her thoughts...disgusting of the govt to treat us so badly...if levies need to go up, then everyone should pay just a little extra. She doesn't have family who ride, so she was not biased.
She also confessed she'd love to have learnt to ride when she was younger...I did tell her she was never too old.
I think the public are on our side!

If you want an ally - try the Maori party.

Lets face it there is a pretty good argument to increase the acc fee for people movers and 7 seaters etc so beloved of the peoples whom value large and extended families. Afer all, a simple accident can involve more people and cost more money.

Once you have a class classification system then anything goes.

You could try Federated Farmers or the horsey types those 4WD's are a problem..

That's because us white MFs have been raping and pilliaging them for years.

I expect their support was bought with the intended foreshore & seabed legislation repeal.

No going to either. They've done a deal on the Foreshore and Seabed Act and we're the collateral damage.

    Interesting slant from the media:

    http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/3043...g-to-avoid-car

    "Motorcyclist" not "biker".

Mentions the poker run (pubs too) but also that it was for charity.

Mentions why - swerve to avoid car.

    Mentions gear (it saved life).

    etc.

    ---

This other articel is less positive: http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/3043...-bridge-crash/

But does mention a rock climbing accident. Makes bikes look dangerous (duh) but at least might raise the "why are rock climbers not taxed?" question.
Measure once, cut twice. Practice makes perfect.

Don't agree - mentions "he was sent flying off the bridge" and "he was knocked from his bike".

What else do you want - a sentence saying "and it was all the bastard cager's fault."

Definitely a change in how they are reporting accidents seems to be occurring.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.
