I saw plenty of road works Between Palmy and Kapiti during the weekend, mostly new seal and road alignment.

There's heaps of work being done on the Linton - Shannon road SH57 and a bit on the Opiki road SH56, both common alternatives to SH1 but not sure about SH1 itself. I rode down and back last week but mostly avoided SH1 apart from Mangaweka-Turangi and Hamilton-Auckland, both stretches fine.

Madduck and Sharry rode down 1 last week. They could tell you...
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Road works at Ohingati where they doing a re alignment. Gravel very fine gravel. Not a biggie.
Why SH1? Far better ways to get from A to W
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.

Watch out for the anti-psychlist mines on the hard shoulder.

    Just guessing here but;

Massive areas of total tar bleed.
Small patches of new chip seal.
Large patches of new chip seal.
Etended areas of new chip seal.
Varying sectons of rough rolled aggregate and lime liberally sprayed with pond water.
    Diesil spills.
    Cow shit.
    Cyclists.

In all or random areas in all points between Auckland & Wellington

    The list goes on..........

Just a guess here, but there may be quite a few motorcyclists about as well.

    Oh yeah forgot about Ohingaiti

I imagine this is BIKOI related, it's the only reason any sane person would use SH1.
