Lesson learned. Wellington drivers are even more slow and doddery and stupid than Dorkland one. Impossible, I'd have thought but there it is.

And what prize moron dreamed up that road around the harbour?

Cliff on one side, ocean on the other and cheescutter in the middle ! No where to go, and a single lane!

And - when the road makers put up signs saying "Passing lane 4 km ahead " and "Queues" (permanent sign) you KNOW they are aware that it's a balls up.

    Tedious tedious tedious.

i was stuck in a never ending queue on the way home. was following a car transporter truck and was also being tail gated, so pulled over at pukerua bay to let the cars pass cos i didnt want to be followed that close on the coastal road. jumped back on the very end of it... that queue remained that way all the way to bloody peka peka! fuckin insane! came to a dead stop by whenua cemetary and elsewhere as everyone tried to merge on top of each other.

I overheard some lets say 'unfortunate' comments expressed by 2 uniformed officers because some bikers wouldn't follow parking instructions. I bet you there would have been some 'surprised' (pissed off) cops who had stationed themselves all over the roads heading north after the event.... purely in interests of Road Safety you understand This has to go down in history as the Biggest Motorcycling Event in New Zealand ...ever! ..... and IMO will be remembered for the exceptional behaviour and comaraderie amongst all the Biker Groups. It can only be described as an absolute buzz to have been part of this campaign.

As the guy in front of me found out, be careful you don't drop your Harley while going down the exit ramp from the stadium, they are a prick to pick up and as the well meaning but dim guy beside me found out, don't put your bike on the side stand to assist the aforementioned harley rider because it too will fall over.

Next time, go over the top... there's a road up over the top of that cliff that joins SH1 just north of the police college... Wgtn riders call it the piecock hill road... (proper spelling: Paekakariki Hill Road). Turn left at Paekakariki, where the sign says "unsuitable for long vehicles" or something to that effect)

    MMmmmm...
