What a fantastic turn out.
I would like to give a very postive plug to the cops. Friendly and relaxed. They did a terrifc job on the day and with them keeping an eye on the bikes in the stadium I felt safe leaving my pack on my bike.
Many thanks guys!
Suggestions:
Lets make this an annual event (We will always be able to find something to demonstrate agains). Best damned bike show I have ever been to!
Encourage more of the people who can't ride their bikes to work but are in town to walk down to parliament but take their helmets. (I know a number did this)

Lessons learnt :
Randomly picking a road to turn down on the basis that it must sooner or later meet up with the road you should have turned down a while back can turn a boring main highway return into an adv ride
When confronted by trees fallen across the road , one is glad that one included a hatchet in ones tool kit
One regrets that one did not sharpen the hatchet
Lesson learned by lazy cage driver that sat in his car for twenty minutes while I spent half an hour clearing away fallen trees. A bike needs only a narrow and wriggly path through vegetation. Your car cannot follow. If you had helped I would have cleared a larger path
While it is wise to have an unbrella strapped on the bike, it is pointless if the umbrella and bike are both still back at the motel when one emerges from the pub after dinner to pissing down rain
One can get more soaked in five minutes walking from pub to motel, without umbrella, than in 600 km travel with waterproof bike gear on.

Eight or nine people can't marshal the parking of 5,000+ bikes when they all arrive at once but fortunately the riders are smart enough to largely figure it out for themselves.![]()

I went to the stadium just before people started leaving, to help with the traffic control and the biker cops were all at the bottom end, off their bikes and looking at some custom bikes, talking to some of their owners and seemed to enjoy being around so may bikes, like any true biker.
Except for their attire, you couldn't tell them from any other biker, happy to chat with other bikers and to see other riders' handy work. I trully doubt it they did any "checking" on the bikes.
As far as I am concerned, kudos on Wgtn police for doing a brillian job and helping us (except for the end when they left cars and a couple of trucks going up the ramp at the stadium, while all the bikes were going down)
I learnt that getting in early and parking outside parliment then walking down the waterfront for a beer in the sunshine was the best way to spend the morning. Then we attended the speeches and had a great time yelling BULLSHIT! Loved it. Lets do it again.
Fix topboxes so the wind blows the lid closed! In the convoy around Toko' riding along with Les, there was a blue Beemer hit a bump and wind gust blew his topbox open. Before I could get alongside, the aerodynamics had blown half his shit out over us followin. Bugger me if 20 minutes later this Harley comes sailing past with this guys strides hooked onto the rear footpeg flapping in the breeze. Hope you got all your socks and grots back mate!
I'm with you on this. Got back to the Stadium and saw four cops strolling around enjoying the sun. I thought that may discourage scum bags nicking a bike. I didn't see them checking any bike. I thought they did a bloody good job. Any body who wants to slag off the cops get some decent evidence first.
yep, the beer in the Thistle quenched the thirst. Trudging around in bike kit is hot work
I learnt that the horrible noise my bike was making for 20 km's was actually the exhaust note from the Suzuki Boulevard sitting just to the left of me.
I also learned that I have a massive blind spot, Just to my left, and no doubt the phenomena is repeated on my right.
Also, after walking back to the Train Station and finding a toilet I learned my Fly was already down, 5 points for being efficient.
Anyone else see Sue Bradford in the outdoor area of the Trax bar/cafe?
