... ummmmmm..... no
The Governor General does (who is technically the Queen incarnate) but that's only over serious shit... not a $500/year increase in ACC payments.
Take a look at what the Queen did in respect of that bad man Mr Mugabe killing white famers, and booting them off their land etc... she said (and I believe this could be a quote) "You're naughty and (the Royal) we hereby threaten to suspend you from the Commonwealth so you won't be allowed to run long distance in the games
Nyah Nyah Nyah"
Or there was Bananarama taking power by physcial force. Did the Queen step in? ... I thnk she said some thing similar to him.
With respect- this is an important issue... to US. It's not something Queen is even going to read about, let alone wade into and create international political waves about. Anyone taking this option seriously needs to lay off the strong cough mixture

You need to decide all on your lonesome (or start a KB poll if thinking's a challenge - seems to be the way here in KB) if this is a big enough issue to sway your vote to a different party... then you wait nicely until the next election comes along and let them have it!
Hope there's enough others that agree with you (and by all means get vocal in the meantime - it's nice to share your views which is what I believe is being done).
By all means write to the Queen about it. Just don't get too hopeful about the outcome of it

Heh, i take your point, but i am under no illusion as to the response we'd get is. Moreover though, i'm curious where the line will be drawn! Who would eventually give us the royal "Sod Off"! Anything better than that is a bonus...
If any major publication picks up a story "Queen says no to the requests of her subjects on the other side of the world", "are they out of sight out of mind", "who protects you from your government unsanctioned decision making"... they are our servants, we are not their employees!
There are plenty of ways to address the issue as we've seen, but at the end of the day when all else fails, you've got 1 out, just 1 and that's the Queen... if she says no what's the alternative? civil unrest? it's relatively muted here at the moment because the fight is only just starting, we're educating people that we come across (6 people so far today that have stood open mouthed as i explain why we did what we did on tuesday), yet the NZ public seems to keep their thoughts to themselves to a certain extent. But as i've come to realise during the 3 years that i've been here, the NZ public have a lot of passion and i wouldn't put anything past anyone when fighting for their rights...
blah blah...

Fuck you lot talk some shit.![]()

best solution i can think of is starting our own party...
call it "KiwiBiker Party"....
why not it cant be that hard and we already know we have the votes behind us... so we just need someone with the know how and the focus to actualy cary this idea through.
come election time we well be in power and probs would get more seats that National and Labour put together and the Mairi party would have non... hahahahaha
so who's in...???
you'll get my family's vote +6![]()
Meeee! AAAH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
Some folk kinda discussed this in another thread... and funnily enough, no takers!!! Do you reckon National, knowing that they're about to be voted out will wait for another 2 years before they sell off ACC... I hope i'm wrong, but if i'm not, you have a very small window of opportunity to block any such Government move!!! then after the next election we can get to work. If there's noone else on here to contest the seat that i'm living in, i'll run for it! But being English might go against me due to my lack of understanding when it comes to the Kiwi experience!!!

A biker party would not, per se, be electorally successful.
Few people vote on such a narrow basis.
However, it could serve a more subtle purpose.
Firstly, a registered politcal party is entitled to election time speaking rights.
Secondly, NZ lacks a recognised formal lobby group system. Formation of a biker party could enable the influence of such a party to be used to extract concessions form the major parties. "Agree to this, and we'll commit suicide and tell our members to vote for you. Otherwise, we're off to see the other guy"

there certainly appears to be a fair group of calm heads on this site, im sure i dont need to name names for everyone to know who im talking about.
i've never thought any of the current political groups represented me particularly well, so if those in question DID decide to form a party - even as a throwaway gesture as ixion mentioned - you can count on at least one paid up supporter.
(thats me in case its not clear)
