    Speeding Ticket

    My missus got a speeding ticket other day in her cage. She was doing 55kph in a 50kph zone and got snapped. First Ive ever heard of someone getting ticketed for only doing 5 kph over the limit.
    Whatever happened to the 10kph tolerance ?
    Anyone else had this ?
    FINE. This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

    Blame Helen Clark it was 8% to allow for speedo error now lower.

    But it has saved a hell of a lot of lives and the extra revenue goes to orphans and the elderly.

    As so happened, I got pulled up by a cop in sanson just the other day for a Similar case.. Speed Limit was 100. I was sitting on 105. Cop told me that the speed limit IS what is posted. Whether it be 50 or 100. There is no "leeway" it is just up to the cops Discretion on what he thinks is right or wrong pretty much..

    In saying that, I have learnt NOT to pass a marked patrol car on passing lanes even when traffic infront of him is only doing 90kms

    (No ticket thankfully)

    From the current Police Speeding Enforcemant guide

    Speed Discretion Levels These principles apply, other than in exceptional circumstances.

    Drivers who are detected…

    • at a speed of more than 10 km/h above the speed limit
    • driving a heavy motor vehicle at a speed of more than 5 km/h above the speed limit
    • towing a light trailer, at a speed of more than 5 km/h above the speed limit within a school zone, at a speed of more than 4 km/h above the speed limit

    must be issued with infringement/offence notice or summons.

    Use of discretion

    The principles concerning discretion in trauma promoting offences are:

    • Police will always consider driver explanations;
    • discretion should be exercised wisely and within the guidelines of this chapter;
    • a driver must show exceptional mitigating circumstances to justify being issued a warning for a trauma causing offence; and
    • it is reasonable for offending drivers to be treated both fairly and consistently.
    Guide is attached, original here

    Either you was in a school zone, or you encountered Kuntstable Kunt.

    Im going take a punt and guess it was near a school.
    Anywhere near a school and they will snap ya. In welly they have been using mobile spped cameras around schools for revenue gathering as well.

    Yeah, what MadMal said. Although it doesnt state as such on the ticket, it is near a school.
    Thanks for explanations.

    What the fuck is a "trauma causing offence"?

    Last time I checked, I wasn't beating people up when I was speeding.

    It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

    Was it round a school, therefore your wife obviously doesn't care much for children?

    How did you get to that conclusion?
    What a dumb ass thing to say!

    I heard of a truck going down a hill and with the weight of the truck couldn't contain its speed of 90 km. A cop pulled em over and gave him a ticket too - slack aye!!!!

    I'd be worried about a truck that couldnt maintain its speed down a hill! Safety hazard much? Like run-away truck sound like fun?
