Never thought when I started that first thread that it would end up with 7000 bikes taking over the capital (they counted 4600 at the Police College with bikes still arrivig, they just didn't stop coming) + 2000 odd at the Duck pond + at LEAST 1000 around Molesworth St and the surrounding area. plus pedestrians and pillions.
TOTAL support from the public, never seen anything like it.
Parliament security are flabbergasted, they were sure it was going to be a riot, they said "we just can't believe how smoothly it all went".
According to them, the biggest protest at Parliament since Dame Whina's hikoi, maybe bigger (hard to compare shitloads with heaps and heaps).
No incidents no stupid stuff.
And a personal memory - heading from the Police College into Wellington, following a couple of bikie cops, speedo on 120kph, bikes solid across the motorway, a foot max between bikes, a bike length or less between them, and EVERYBODY riding brilliantly. And half of them Harleys, and half those patched. Absolutely text book formation riding.
And at least one of those bikie cops must have hit 200kph at least accelerating onto the motorway to catch the convoy. I bet he was grinning from ear to ear.
And now for more serious messages.
We are at war!
Althogh Mr Smith listened politely and attentively to our messages , he did NOT give us the assurance we are looking for.
He (and the National party and ACC) will now be hoping that, having vented, we will go home and forget it.
So it is MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER to get the pressure on locally. Regional coordinators, target National electorate office, national party meetings, ACC offices.
The campaign begins today.
Everything so far was just the warm up. Now we need to come out fighting.
