BIKEOI! Well done EVERYBODY you done us all proud

Never thought when I started that first thread that it would end up with 7000 bikes taking over the capital (they counted 4600 at the Police College with bikes still arrivig, they just didn't stop coming) + 2000 odd at the Duck pond + at LEAST 1000 around Molesworth St and the surrounding area. plus pedestrians and pillions.

TOTAL support from the public, never seen anything like it.

Parliament security are flabbergasted, they were sure it was going to be a riot, they said "we just can't believe how smoothly it all went".

According to them, the biggest protest at Parliament since Dame Whina's hikoi, maybe bigger (hard to compare shitloads with heaps and heaps).

    No incidents no stupid stuff.

And a personal memory - heading from the Police College into Wellington, following a couple of bikie cops, speedo on 120kph, bikes solid across the motorway, a foot max between bikes, a bike length or less between them, and EVERYBODY riding brilliantly. And half of them Harleys, and half those patched. Absolutely text book formation riding.

And at least one of those bikie cops must have hit 200kph at least accelerating onto the motorway to catch the convoy. I bet he was grinning from ear to ear.

And now for more serious messages.

    We are at war!

Althogh Mr Smith listened politely and attentively to our messages , he did NOT give us the assurance we are looking for.

He (and the National party and ACC) will now be hoping that, having vented, we will go home and forget it.

So it is MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER to get the pressure on locally. Regional coordinators, target National electorate office, national party meetings, ACC offices.

    The campaign begins today.

Everything so far was just the warm up. Now we need to come out fighting.

Good man Ixion and thank you and the team for all the hard work and effort!
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

It was such an impressive show of support. I'm sorry I couldn't be there (I started a new job a couple of weeks ago) but it was great to see the photos. Well done to the organisers and supporters. I hope everyone gets home safe. Thanks guys.

So what should I do now? Write letters? Head on down to see Peter Dunne and tell him to represent? Lurk about on the lawn at the big House some more?
Is this thing going to a Select Committee? If so, we need to pack that thing out Every Day it is sitting. And make our presence and voices heard there.

+1.... You did as all proud Les ... you, Brett (Stoney) and the Team did a fantastic job. From where I was looking it appeared that perhaps 10% of Bikes had pillions so maybe the true count of Bikers was closer to 8000.... history in the making, and we were there. Once again thanks you guys... you can all have the day off today to reflect.... yeah right Cheers W
p.s. almost forgot... your call to the weather gods payed off big time

Aye - Now is in fact the time to press for incentives for using a Motorbicycle or Scooter.

Bang the green, clean, no congestion, progressive governments make provisions for two wheels, you know it makes sense, drum.

We should have a Magna Biker / Bill of Rights - beyond the manifesto?

    Good one Les.

You probably now need a good sleep to recharge the batteries.

Agreed on the new battle cry.

The points of our message are strong and we need to keep pushing them until they are understood.

The fact that a review has been promised is a good thing however it is the principal and the unfair structure that needs to be addressed and it won't be unless BIKE01 efforts continue.

It will be interesting to see what they come back with. Time is of the essence as there is not a lot of time to go before this due to become law and we do need to see more than a half hearted pacifying reduction to the proposals.

what a fanastic group of guys & gals I brought to welly you made me extremely proud .. thank you

the one & only gripe about the day is to have a national coordinator who can pull everything together, and someone who does not try & undermine the planning that has gone ahead less than 24 hours prior to the event. (and knows where the towns actually are)

With all the advertising material it was not helpful to have Bronz come into our thread telling the palmy lot to go to Sanson (not the square) and for the national ride organiser making changes to their ride schedule the nite prior to yesterday (as discussed last week)

Bronz asked for regional coordinators, we put our hand up & got the ball rolling, then not asking or working with what we organised was not helpful, however having around 250 riders from Palmy arriving around the same time
Sanson lot were blasting through could have been total chaos .. thank you and massive ups to the police who controlled the second set of lights to getting our riders in and out safely & in one large group - blardy brilliant job

other than that awesome day .. still feeling a bit shattered now

The media are about falling over themselves to find out what is planned next. This is big news. Congratulations to all of you that made the trip yesterday. It was a moment in history. Best bit is no problems we really did come in peace, and we showed it.

I heard Minister Myth saying he probably would not have the levies so high, of course that should make us happy. Well it wont.

A great day, I would like to pass on a big thanks to all involved in orgainsing the day and to all the volunteers involved.

I would also like to say it was nice to come back to the stadium earlier than most and to see at least four police walking around keeping an eye on the bikes and gear.

It was a fantastic day and seeing all the bikes together was just amazing.

the war has only just begun... and we will see what they come up with...

in reality we should be organising more local protests and another national one to keep up the pressure...
