I rung David Shearers Sandringham Electoral office, but hes away till next year. I have posted the card and scoffed the orange myself.

Reading how others have journeyed to drop off coal and oranges only to leave on doorsteps, makes me think this time consuming element to this protest is somewhat watered down. I had prepared myself verbally to confront him too....

Otherwise, when do we ride again? Saturday morning was a blast!

    Angry Dr Jackie Blue Delivered.

Snuck home and geared up at lunchtime, dropped of the coal and card to Jackie Blue's office. Office person said " ooh she can put it in the fire" I advised her it was in a bag so politicians wouldn't have to get their hands dirty :-) (I think Jackie was hiding around the corner)

She also said that she had the statistics here "somewhere" and asked me what my problem with it was.

I said that from what I had seen, it was more costly per car accident than motorcycle accident.
Also pointed out that I thought their "statistics" probably included trail bike accidents with no rego, scooter riders on a car license who have done no training on a M/C and wear bugger all protection, riding a Chinese piece of crap and also kids on Quad bikes. She agreed that was possibly a problem.

I don't think the Majority of people get it.

Yes. Where were the scooters. It should have been a perfect event for them, no motorways, no long distance.
    But I only saw one.

They just don't seem interested, which is odd, considering that they have one of the highest percentage increases.

To be fair to the scooter riders, this was not a well publicised event, for different and valid and actually surprising reasons this event did not get the publicity it could have. Like what happens with a lot of things some thought that others were handling it, and they weren't. Some people simply had a bunch of life intervene. Live and learn.

School is out for a lot of them, they were asleep most likely. For those that were not asleep, they probably did not know about it. Frankly, getting up before 6am on a Saturday morning I dont have to work takes a bit of commitment. I need to establish a facebook/bebo profile, specifically to promote these events. As was pointed out to me the day before.

A work in progress is what this is.

    Good point mate,

Facebook, Bebo and MySpace are all good resources to reach the 'future' of this great nation.

Facebook already has a KB link to the BIKOI event, check it out here:

    http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?...e/175254466792

(You might have to create a Facebook account to view it, mostly historical info really)

I'm happy to set all these pages up for us if needs be. It does have potential to reach a heap of people.

I did speak with a couple of the Magnetos Scooter Club members about what we are doing but they seemed very cautious. I did try and explain the bigger picture but it sort of went over their heads (probably not the right people I suppose)

Magnetos would be a group to align ourselves with as they can pull some numbers. Maybe I could have another try....??

Magnetos are very supportive. I wish I could have made more of an effort. Like I said life intervened this time for some, and others did nothing when we thought they were on top of it.

    Lessons learned.

I have made an attempt to rally the scooter fraternity. I gave up quickly.

    I dont know why...

Scooters are only a convenience, not a way of life?

Shows to go you eh, some people dont care, some people have no idea, some people get what is happening, some dont give. We represent a big hunk of the populace as bikers. Heaven forbid there are bikers that are happy with what is happening. We cant convince everyone to care, and sadly there are some that dont care, meh...

Still reckon there is more that do than dont.

I 110% agree with that sentiment.

I work with one of the most hard nosed stuck up forthright National Supporters ever put on this earth. He watched us ride up Queen Street on Saturday because I told him to be there and see for himself.

He spent Sunday on the net including this site trawling the facts, figures and myths.

Today he told me that he didnt agree with what 'National are trying to do with ACC'. This from a bloke that 2 weeks ago wanted bikes priced off the road and would have possibly given his bum to Nick Smith at the drop of a hat.

We keep chipping away mate. If bellends like this guy can turn, then I reckon we will have huge numbers

    He's still a dickhead though....
