About 10 years back when I was at university (showing my age) I ride my bike (NS400R) often and most of the bikers that I pass nods or waves back. But these days most dont even look at ya let alone wave. I feel strange nodding to myself. Whats up with that?
Must just be an Auckland thang. There's so much nodding and waving going on between us Wellington bikers, some of us get both hands off the bars at times...

This is an oldie but a goodie - some might not have seen it:

    Why Bikers Don't Wave Back

Top Ten Reasons Why Harley Riders Don't Wave Back:
    10. - Afraid it will invalidate warranty.
    9. - Leather and studs make it too hard to raise arm.
    8. - Refuses to wave to anyone whose bike is already paid for.
    7. - Afraid to let go of the handlebars because they might vibrate off.
    6. - Rushing wind would blow scabs off the new tattoos.
    5. - Angry because just took out second mortgage to pay luxury tax on new Harley.
    4. - Just discovered the fine print in owner's manual and realized H-D is partially owned by those rice-burner manufacturers.
    3. - Can't tell if other riders are waving or just reaching to cover their ears like everyone else.
    2. - Remembers the last time a Harley rider waved back, he impaled his hand on spiked helmet.
    1. - They're jealous that after spending $30,000, they still don't own a Gold Wing.

Top Ten Reasons Why Gold Wing Riders Don't Wave Back:
    10. - Wasn't sure whether other rider was waving or making an obscene gesture.
    9. - Afraid might get frostbite if hand is removed from heated grip.
    8. - Has arthritis and the past 400 miles have made it difficult to raise arm.
    7. - Reflection from etched windshield momentarily blinded him.
    6. - The expresso machine just finished.
    5. - Was actually asleep when other rider waved.
    4. - Was in a three-way conference call with stock broker and accessories dealer.
    3. - Was distracted by odd shaped blip on radar screen.
    2. - Was simultaneously adjusting the air suspension, seat height, programmable CD player, seat temperature and satellite navigation system.
    1. - Couldn't find the "auto wave back" button on the dashboard.

When I was younger I waved at British bike riders,They chased me an beat me up.
Then I got a 250 an they couldn't catch me.
So I waved at Ducati riders(they were different back then)an they chased me an beat me up.
So I got me a 750 an they couldn't catch me,unless some sod put corners in the road.
So the day came I bought an HD,I waved but no bugger belived it,I found out I wasn't suppoused to wave, because nobody would belive it,and the other HD riders wouldn't belive it either.
Now I wave to no bugger,an they still want to beat me up.
Thirty bloody years, not much changes huh!

Hey! I've got a great idea!
Let's come up with a special wave so that Kiwi Bikers can recognise each other.
Or...... has this been discussed before.........?

Truckies do a quick left right off on their indicators. Has the advantage of being able to be done even when both hands are needed and visible at night.

    Mr Plod might complain though.

I think any special signal would be hard to spot, it's difficult as it is to pick up the different possibilities of wave, nod, thumb lift, foot waggle (Continentals. Strange lot) .

Of course, for some KBers the answer is simple - just throw greeting and acknowledgement wheelies

    Sorry, no relation.

Why are you unhappy with your current bike?

lets just say it's slow, and i don't like the cruiser style, and i keep scraping the foot pegs, which is starting to get annoying, but i like sports bikes a lot more, oh and the bike feels to small for me, i'm only 5'10" but yeah it's just not comfortable, but is that your gsx on highgate?

Highgate? Maori hill? I wish I lived there. - Nah it's not my bike.

I have a GSX250S, do not get a GSX250 they are ass. Maybe older GSX250 bikes were 4 cylinder. But I guess the new ones arn't for speed. They are probably bloody reliable though.

Maybe you will be able to pick out a cheap CBR in Dunedin somewhere? If you dislike your SR get a 4 cylinder.

Provided you don't crash my bike, maybe you could test it sometime? If you like ;p

It's a 40hp at the crank 4 cylinder. But it gets cleaned up by CBRs easily.

    Edited: spelling and wording
