what the cbr250's? but then the cbr's are normally twice as expensive as the gsx's (another reason to like the gsx250's) but you reckon the ones to look out for are the gsx250s how much should i expect to pay for an early 90's one with aroun 30-40,000k's on it? nothings really decided at the moment i probably need to save up another grand or so before i can even start looking around for another bike, then theres the increase in my insurance etc. probably wouldn't want to test drive another person's bike unless i was considering buying it, sort of sounds like asking for troubleOriginally Posted by campbellluke

That's no problem. The offer is always up though.
I am uneducated at bike market rates to tell you any pricings of anything.
If you think that your 250 is slow, get a 4 cylinder. Or a 2 stroke. I have said this to a few people and yet they go out and buy GSX250 . And curse about how slow they are.
Just look up specifications of bikes. If you want some power, you will be looking at 40hp - 45hp at the crank.
Also. I have ridden a VTR250, they are a pretty cool bike!
A GSX250 may be good to look at? Yes, if it has 4 cylinders. I don't know if Suzuki ever made a such thing?
My bike is a Grey bike ( sold in Japan only ) , which I got imported. Quite different to a GSX250 though. Similar in some ways to the 90-92 Suzuki bandits.
250s that are good - cbr zxr gsxs-katana gsxf-bandit fzr250 fzr250rr vtr - many more to list. I can't think of them though.
MAYBE a fzr cheap? They are a really awesome bike to ride. 180km+ bike 19,000 rpm redline. Little brother bought one a few years ago for $1200. If you ever see one, they should be cheap. Because of their age. Sadly yamaha doesn't still make FZR.
In a years time I will be hoping to get a FZR600 .. maybe 1000. I love FZRs. If you still are looking then maybe you would like to test ride mine.
yeah a mate of mine has an fzr, hopefully he'll sell it soonwas actually looking at a bandit a few months ago but got out bid on it on trademe in the last minute, and yeah i know they're a good bike, just damn hard to find, thats the only one i've ever seen in dunedin, and now i get to see it parked down at uni just about every day
wouldn't get a 2 stroke though, to much maintanance for me, i think some of the older gsx's were 4 cylinder, i'm actually also considering one of those dirty little fxr's which actually go like rockets considering the tiny little engine, but i think they might be a bit small height wise for me, i've seen a few of them and they always look so small, dunno will have a look around at the end of the year but definitely going to be a sports bike, i'm sick of getting mistaken for a damn harley and having downs syndrome kids coming up to me and saying 'nice harley' jeeeeez don't they know the difference between a japanese cruiser and a hardley?
Are you the Yamaha that stands his bike up. In university often by the Science area in the shade? If so, I am the silver bike beside you.
I think we have covered this a few times but I wave at all bikes if it is safe to do so and they wave back ipso-facto and thats it really. I was once assisted by a patched biker on a hog so I really think the fraternaty is alive and well.
Your never to old for a sportsbike
yeah, i've stopped parking there now though, got sick of riding home on a wet seat.![]()
just had a look at the fzr, cbr and gsx (1990 model which is 4 cylinder) and they all have claimed 45hp
I wave if at all possible... and i apreciate it when i pull aside in my car to let a biker pass and they give me a nod or wave!![]()

i have seen these bunch of 15yearolds in a old beat up corola try to block a guy on a big cruiser from entering the lane after i let him in front of me,
leaving him exposed to oncomming trafic and he had a lady on the back too (trafic was almost no moving on our side because of road works but normal flow on the oncoming), and then i saw his boot dent da fu#$ out of that fellas doorhe too then moved out of the bikes way

Cool. If you have money that you feel you should use to get a faster bike. That's where you should go ;p
I wonder what that 1990 GSX250 would be like. Probably really good.
There is a cbr1000 at uni. Jealousy isn't bad for you I hope.![]()
You hate weat seats? Don't migrate your bike to the parking at commerce then!
Need sleep. Night.
Pity he didn't dent the fellas as well as their door. Some cagers need to be *taught* respect for bikers. Or fear. Whatever worksOriginally Posted by 250learna

I have been using the nod since I have been back on a bike in this country and have to agree have not had much response back.Originally Posted by Fart

Getting wobbly is the only reason I don't wave, and prefer the "Head Tilt Of Comradeship" :-)Originally Posted by stevedee

I tend to nod rather than wave but in heavy traffic (ie commuting) I'm ususlly paying too much attention to the cars around me to do either.

I always wave if I'm not gonna kill myself by taking a hand off the bars... What the hell, cheers me up... Probably cheers the other person up too.
I've found that the Harley guys wave if they 'know' you... IE they've seen you wave at them a few times... I commute every day so see quite a few of the same bikes over and over.
I wave at the biker cops (they hardly ever wave back), I even wave at the cop / mufti cars when I filter past (they wave back more than the bike cops)
Ah well, cheers.
Sedge.
