Do you still Wave at Passing Bikes?

I wave at pretty much everything... bmws/harleys almost never wave (I must be to riced for them or something ) and scooters... mabey a 30% sucess rate. I got more nods/waves from cops than those categories :/

Coolest nod/wave I got was from a rather crazily speeding cbr going up symonds street just as I left uni... looked up from perving the R1 thats outside the arts building every day, ''wEEEEUUUmmmmm' and I get a nod made my day hehehe.

I am well convinced that if a harley rider ever lifted an arm, to wave at a Jappa, hell would freeze over, Hellen Clarke's gender would be confirmed, and monkeys would fly out of my butt! Since those things are unlikely to happen, ( though the monkey thing is possible. Took me a whle to get them in there.) we should wave at all, and hope for a response. Stick together and all that

I usually give a fellow biker a nod, or some times a wave with the left hand. Don't wave to scooters tho. Does that make me a snob? I just think scooters are sad, unless it's a hot girl in the saddle

Interestingly I don't usually get any response from the 'Bros on Harleys. Only middle aged euro guys and gals. Guess they're too hard to nod back to another guy on a bike.

I do get spontaneous nods and waves from sports bike riders tho, and I'm on a 250 cruiser, huh go figure.

I wave at most bikes , usually don't bother with Harleys, BMW's. .... they never wave back.

Sometimes, it is quite difficult to wave / nod on the motorway. It is not because you don't want to but you are just not concentrating on traffic heading the other way. You are focused on changing lanes, traffic behind etc... Sometimes I wave / nod and the biker heading the other way doesn't even notice me.

I do thank cage drivers that pull over when I am behind or move to the left. We need more considerate drivers like that.

I wave when its practical. Would look a bit of a dork waving and falling off now wouldnt one?

When on the motorway I find that I don't get a chance to have a look at the oncomming traffic unless I am in the immediate right lane. But whenever I pass or see a bike in all other situations I always give a wave type of salute or a head nod - and I would say the majority of riders repay the gesture.

I always get little kids that point and wave to me, even had a few staring and waving at me whilst looking through their cars rear windscreen.

I wave to anyone on a bike and any kids waving at me from the side of the road - I like to encourage their interest in bikes. I also wave at cops, ambos, fire trucks. Any scooter being buffeted by pissing rain and gusting wind in the middle of winter is definitely worthy of a wave.

Scoots, Dirt/Trail bikes, and Gang Members tend to be the exceptions to the wave rule for me.

Harleys seem to wave (or at least return waves) when I am on Li'l Rat Bike. Or, at any rate , nod or raise a thumb, which I guess amounts to the same. No idea why, I'd have thought Li'l Rat Bike would be the last thing they'd have approved of.

I'll give a wave when it's easily possible. Otherwise it's a nod, unless I'm taking a turn at traffic lights. Funnily enough it's the bus drivers that will give me the occasional wave and a nod at the lights.

Apart from general "biker discrimination" this waving/nodding/saluting issue really comes down to the mood you and the approaching rider are in at the time surely? If I'm in a happy-go-lucky jolly mood (normally only on weekends ) I'll acknowledge most bikes coming the other way, if I'm not so happy then the number of times I give out a friendly wave will be reduced...of course it's the same with all of us because that is *normal* human behaviour! (I wonder if Whinger waves??) When you've ridden on the road for a while you will come to the realisation that some days you will wave to bikes more than others and in the same vein waves will be returned more some days than others, all based on emotion!
