I've been told that this type of thing along with DIY building in your own home is soon to be a thing of the past

Unless you are a fully qualified plumber/electrician/builder...you will not be able to lift a finger except to decorate...and I bet it will be little time after that when the interior designers will stomp their heels in demand of the same law change.

I remember every house I lived in with my father got redone in some way by him. Heck, my first house I _ever_ lived in was built by him.
(Sure he had a builders/electrician licences thingamees and a plumber friend)

All I ever wanted to do was have my husband and me, with my dad's help, build the perfect family home.....

    Look Here
for lotsa info about solar powered vehicles.

Two problems : What happens at night ? And unless you could mould the solar panels into a curve and make a fairing out of them (free idea there), the bike's going to be hard to control when the wind gets under the solar panels.

Solar is good - but it depends on what you're looking to drive with the power generated. You're not going to get much current from a couple of cheap solar panels. So solar power on a cost/effectiveness basis might be a non starter.

Any electrical device is subject to type approvals for the country/region they'll be used in. These are pretty easy to achieve (but costs $$$$) providing that it doesn't catch fire, explode, transmit RF/magnetic interference etc.

Stick to it mate, this idea may be a flyer. Sound it out a bit more.

That depends on how dark it is and how much capacity your battery has.
Were you aware that you can still get solar energy from street lamps and moon/starlight?

Already mentioned about making fairings and even fairing blades out of solar panels.

There's also solar liquid collectors...called amorphous crystals.

As far as I know there are 3 types of crystal.
Mono-crystals: the one that looks like a square with cut off corners. Usually greyish in colour.
These are the most efficient collectors. They are grown and sliced into panels. More expensive.
Multi-crystals: the rectangle ones that look like blue chipboard.
These are the most used. These are bits and pieces all sorta melted together into a block then sliced into panels. Cheaper.
Amorphous-crystals: to be honest, I have learnt much about this stuff yet...it's not really on the public market so much at the moment. But from what I understand it's a liquid compound and doesn't have a long life...about 3 years I think.

But solar panels are far ahead these days that every window you see, could potentially be a solar panel...think of your skylight........

Stop it! Where has the debaucherous slipstream of past gone? Who is the new edjumacated person posting under her name? There was a time I understood every innuendo she posted, and now? Amorphous/multi/mono-crystals?

This calls for a Family Guy quote:

Dennis Miller: I don't wanna go on a RANT here but America's foreign policy makes about as much sense as Beowolf having sex with Robert Fulton at the first Battle of Antetum. I mean when a neo-conservative defenstrates it's like Raskalnakov filibuster dioxymonohydrostinate.

Peter: What the hell does RANT mean?

    So, who was the guy?
I sincerely hope all your dreams come true
I hardly ever remember my dreams (if I have any, s'pose I do as everyone does). I do have one recurring dream tho, and I also think I have way too many de ja voux (sp.???) experiences.

    Anyway

Back to the matter at hand...

I'm gonna start making a design for these tyre warmer's. As my Dad has decided that he does not like me riding a bike soooo much, I can't rely on his help. Since I won't be doing an electronics course till summer, I'm in a bit of a jam.

Any qualified sparky wanna check my design and A OK it or whatever when I'm done?
